Never had a bad experience with frozen curly fries out of my oven.

I had toast with peanut butter and honey for second breakfast this morning thanks to this thread I think.

When home from school sick watching the old school sitcom reruns under a blanket on the couch my favorites were:
Cream of tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches.
The Lipton's chicken soup that came in an envelope.

Might burn a PTO day soon to relive this.

Olds,

I used to really love those crappy Swanson TV dinners as a kid, but alas it seems they are no more.

lol 9 pack tho - 40 or bust. Go big or go home, son.
of all the childhood foods i've retried in the past 5 years, these are BY FAR the worst. I feel like they have gotten much worse, because i loved them as a kid. just completely flavorless, especially the cardboard flavored bagel.

pizza rolls, otoh, are great.

The breakfast bagel bites are inedible

I wonder how pb and j holds up

Bagel Bites are excellent but a little overpriced imo. Their crunch is solid.

the surface area to filling ratio of tots (cylindrical) results in a close to optimal proportion of crunchy outside to tender inside when properly cooked.
tot ceiling > hash brown ceiling > fry ceiling imo

bummer....pretty sure there's still portions of skin on the roof of my mouth that haven't grown back after nuking them with the molten dessert from swanson tv dinners.

any of you olds remember patio mexican dinners? they were the best.

Loved the roast beef; hated the fried chicken--it always seemed like it had been soaked, probably from the steam. The green peas were always rubbery, so I usually tried to find another kid or dog to throw them at rather than eat them.

I do. They were terrific--back then.

I didn't even remember the desserts from the Swanson TV dinners until you mentioned them. Nuking them??? I don't think I ever had a TV dinner after I used a microwave for the first time.

Anyone else ever eat the TV dinners off TV trays?
Old showing old.

Edit: obviously didn't click on ElD's link until after I posted. Also loved the salisbury steak Swanson dinners.

not about nuking them in the microwave...it's about the piping hot fruit filling still blistering the roof of my mouth even after it's been sitting for 15 minutes.

i wonder how many people even understand what TV trays are (hint: gender has nothing to do with it)

ah!

Yes, that was one of the worst things about those tv dinners. Not everything came to the desired temperature at the same time. Some too hot, some too cold, some just right. Goldilocks!

The absolute nut low: "fried" chicken and mixed vegetables.

guessing you can find something here you'll like

gotta get some of that Salisbury Gristle Steak
09-26-2017 , 06:46 PM
Yeah, I don't recall having fried chicken TV dinners. It doesn't seem like a good option. I liked the Salisbury Steak fine though, but I'm not sure I'd like it anymore.
09-26-2017 , 06:59 PM
I eat literally nothing now that I did as a kid, but I just remembered Steak-Umms. I can't imagine those held up well into adulthood but I loved them then. Anyone had them recently?

lol look at some of these recipes on the Steak-Umm site

I don't think I ever saw any of those, but I would have tried the German and maybe the Mexican one even though it looked worse than the Patio brand mentioned earlier itt.

The others looked turrible.

LOL!

Sometimes you have to do that just to remind yourself why you don't do it eat it any more. Every 5 or 6 years I drink a Pabst Blue Ribbon or go to an Applebee's for the same reason.

I get Grandma's Cookies (comes is a pack of two relatively large cookies) once in a while because I liked them as a kid, but they're pretty terrible. About once every five years I'll eat one piece of candy corn.
09-26-2017 , 08:32 PM
I eat Red Baron French bread pizzas all the time. With a thick coating of extra cheese added.
09-26-2017 , 08:36 PM
Man, I crush candy corn so hard every Halloween. I think I'm the only person I know that likes them.

Also, speaking of olds (which deserves its own thread), the first remote control we ever had was wired.
