This relates to the Video game on the wii but thought it would be an interesting topic.
So i am playing family feud on the wii with my friend brian. The following question is asked:

Top 4 answers on the board, "Name a President that is on money".

I say Washington and win control.
My answers were as follows:
Washington(#1)
Lincoln(#2)
Hamilton(#3)

leaving 1 more. I get buzzed on the following:
Jackson
Roosevelt
Grant

Brian has the option to steal, he Starts typing franklin, in my head i am excited as Ben Franklin can't be right since he was never president.

Of course the last answer is Franklin(3 people said franklin), he starts singing "it's all about the benjamins".

I ask him when was Ben franklin president to which he just shrugs, i explain that he never was.

Ok, so there are a fair amount of people in the US who mistakenly think ben franklin was president at some point.

I tell him BS, the question asked "Name a President that is on money" and that a respondent should only be able to name a President.
Brian says that if that is what people answered in the survey it doesn't matter.
I disagree saying they should have either thrown out that answer or the entire survey.

If they ask at what age do most people get married and 3 idiots say "Pizza" should that be counted? He just shrugs

1st I am curious how nobody at the game company noticed this, it could be they didn't do much survey review or simply don't care.

Finally should the Entire Survey be discarded, that answer thrown out, should they tell respondents to choose a different answer? Or do you simply not care

Its a game based on answers given to surveys asked, this includes wrong answers.

Yeah, you're trying to guess what people would answer, not what is actually right. People are stupid, therefore incorrect answers happen. Although having watched my share of FF lately I'm starting to wonder if they don't just make up the results and save on overhead. This particular result makes me rethink that.

Family Fortunes is a so much better name.

The point of the game is to guess other people's responces, not guess right answers. This includes wrong, strange or obscure answers which happen sometimes when you get down to the fourth or fifth (etc) item.

And you're a huge nit.

Have you never watched Family Fued and a contestant gives some ridiculous dumbass answer that makes no sense. Should those be thrown out too because they're wrong? Then why is one type of wrong answer okay and not another?

If there was a question, "Why did Christopher Columbus go on a voyage?" would you exclude all the people who answer, "To prove the world isn't flat" because it's common myth that a lot of people believe but has no basis in fact?

What if a question was "Name a theory". Would they need exclude either "Creationism" or "Evolution" depending on who was playing that day because one or the other is "wrong"?

What about a zillion other categories that don't have necessarily have right or wrong answers. Do you leave it up to the discretion of the "judges" which answers to keep and which to omit?

I simply don't care.
