lol at all the completely broad-based assumptions about 'what women like' in this thread. I have a bit of chest hair. Not like an Armenian or anything, but definitely more than the majority of my friends. I've never been with a girlfriend who's ever not liked it. And it's not out of politeness. I've brought up the idea of shaving/waxing, but any woman I've been with has begged me not to (ok, begged is a strong word). I'm sure for every woman who is attracted to chest hair, there's one that's not. I also agree it's an age thing. I can't imagine, FFK, that when 'Chair is in his 40s/50s, he's going to continue shaving his chest every week.

ETA: I'm not in my 40s/50s, and neither is my gf.
ETA also: Dids, are you serious about shaving your pits? That's just weird.

I'm 22, if I didn't shave my chest I would have a ridiculous amount of hair so I use a beard trimmer without the guard once every month, I trim my armpits, I have sideburns down to the bottom of my ear, I can grow facial hair but I don't have a beard/goatee etc...

I like the stubble look more than the baby smooth, completely shaved look on both my face and chest.

I am a very hairy dude. I'm lucky enough not to have a really hairy back, but most every other part of me has roughly 3/4 inch-long straight black hair. My whole body is like a japanese girl's pubes. It's completely disgusting and I want to kill myself.

So yes, I use an electric trimmer on my whole body. It also cuts down on the random hairs I used to find all over everything I owned. I don't shave my armpits, but I do shave my ass. It's extremely hairy. The whole process takes maybe 5 minutes, and I only do it every 2 weeks or so.

And when I'm in particularly good shape, it certainly doesn't hurt.

i have a moderate amount of chest hair, which i randomly will maintain with a trimmer to keep it in check and adequately groomed. i also keep the armpits under reasonable control. though i believe trimming >>> shaving for such things

i am also skinny-fat and not in shape. so the chest-hair creates a slight illusion that i have more definition in my chest than actually exists. which is of course shattered the moment i try to help someone lift/move something

yeah I trim my ass as well, helps cut down on swass and excessive wiping.

dudes were never into chubby chicks. it was fashionable for hi society women to be fat at one point in European history iirc, but men from all cultures have historically been most attracted to thin waists. this is fact. i think those guys in the 1800s were just dragging their fat wife to ball rooms as a status symbol.

there is no reason for any man to shave their armpits, thats just absurd. You can trim the hair, thats fine, but shaving them makes you look like an ugly girl.

I think its weird that some guy would shave his chest, or legs for that matter, but I can also see why some guys do it. I don't, but I do trim from time to time, so I can't hate. I also work on the shoulders some what. However I have a friend that shaves his chest, etc all the time, but he is really self conscious, and probably far too much. I have another friend that sports his sweater at all times, and he's got a hairy back, and he doesn't give a **** and picks up tons of broads.

I guess its a personel choice, but I don't think it matters to girls as much as people think. Some girls like it, some are indifferent to it, and some girls like their men looking like boys.

he's talking about chicks from the 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's. The "A-List" broads did not look like the ones we have nowadays. They were very attractive, just not super skinny with fake tits, tans, and hair.

this change still seems to be more fashion changing than sexual attraction. if you are unfashionable i guess that makes you less desirable but i don't think its entirely correlated to sexuality.

no, its attraction based, people are more attracted to specific women, and those looks are copied by other women.

Well if we want to get into what men are naturally, primally attracted to, it's blond, big hips, and big boobs. Blond hair indicates higher levels of estrogen, and hips + boobs indicate a good candidate for bearing/rearing children. It's all about procreation, baby.

So yes, of course it's about fashion, and yes, it's been getting skinnier and skinnier (though this trend is slowing/reversing in some circles).

Enough of that - do you shave your chest because you're queer, or are you queer because you shave your chest?

so you are saying that something changed in our dna or biological make up that made it so that we began to prefer the A list women now over those from the 1920's. wake up guy. our sexual attraction has never changed, only whats fashionable from society to society.

I have a hairy chest (Italian genes ftw). The cutoff for girls liking it was 27 or 28. Before that, they didn't care for it much, but after that they loved it. A female friend of mine once said that a lot more girls than you think like it, but won't readily admit it in public.

No way in hell I'm shaving my chest. My wife likes that I am furry like a bear. We'll see about other parts in the future, the shoulders are starting to fill in pretty quickly now. The back should be next.

EDIT: Dids' shaving pits but not chest is really bizarre. All torso hair is more or less equal, right? If some chick is going to get grossed out by a happy trail, she's going to get grossed out by chest hair, no?

I think women prefer hair, all other things equal. But if a guy has muscles, shaving shows them whereas hair would normally hide them. Women are attracted significantly more to muscles than they are to hair, so shaving seems like the right move for muscular people, but the wrong move for skinny/fat people.
