Cardo are you taking aspirin regularly? It's a fairly common cause of GI bleeding. Not sure how that might relate to the colon, but definitely worth checking out, along with any other meds you might be taking.

I was diagnosed with UC at the beginning of last year. Took a few months to get under control, then I caught a c. diff infection and had to start over. Tapering off the prednisone is the worst part, it's like chemotherapy lite (I presume.) I was asymptomatic for over a year and then started flaring a little in July, now here we are. LDO the ******ed state of American health care (I am an uninsured and uninsurable poker player and my out of pocket expenses are lol) has made it tediously difficult to see a doctor, have them run their cover-my-ass battery of defensive tests, and eventually prescribe the same steroids I will always need when things like this happen. I'm on max dosage atm and if I don't see significant improvement over the next week it's a hilariously unaffordable hospital stay for me.

Cardo,

A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. Has this been ruled out for you? They figured him for UC and/or IBS for a long time before figuring it out.

You may know this already, but try avoiding any food with seeds, nuts and grains for a while as these are the biggest triggers for flare ups. They get easily hung up in the wall of the intestines creating much havoc.

Crohn's Disease

Comparison with ulcerative colitis

Quote:
The most common disease that mimics the symptoms of Crohn's disease is ulcerative colitis, as both are inflammatory bowel diseases that can affect the colon with similar symptoms. It is important to differentiate these diseases, since the course of the diseases and treatments may be different. In some cases, however, it may not be possible to tell the difference, in which case the disease is classified as indeterminate colitis.[1][8][15]

Five shots couldn't drop me, I took it and smiled.

Been hit with a few shells but I don't walk with a limp.

It's a joke, son.

Hey, if you can't joke about brain tumors and bleeding asses, what can you joke about?

when blood starts pouring out the ass, the jokes stop imo

In college I would sometimes have a small amount of blood in my poop if I had spicy Thai curry for brunch. It was probably related to eating curry on an empty stomach.

Noted hip-hop producer J. Dilla died of lupus. So it was lupus twice at least.
09-04-2009 , 12:04 AM

This might deserve its own thread, but I was having a discussion with a friend last night. Suppose an Italian-American family in Long Island adopted an asian baby. Could he grow up to be a guido? I'm thinking yes, especially if he has brothers that are actually Italian. I think he would turn into some sort of super-guido to overcompensate. My friend says it's impossible.
09-04-2009 , 02:28 AM
Yes. I lived there. I've seen it happen.
09-04-2009 , 02:56 AM
tell us moar pls
09-04-2009 , 03:40 AM
being a guido is cultural, not genetic, so the asian could totaly go I-TI
