asb, I'm not trying to be mean, but if I can't sleep in my own place, I'm much grumpier than any toddler, lol. I've had two of my own and four grand kids, so I'm well aware of children. I'm not sure where the compromise would land, but I can promise that, if you didn't try to meet me halfway, then no one would be happy. And again I love kids, I was a middle school teacher for many, many years, so normal noise does not bother me.

tyler,

I bet you don't live in a big apartment complex full of children where your bedroom is right below someone else's living room.

Well I just got a call that my grandpa's in hospice. Won't be too long now.

A little angry because we were all kept in the dark wrt to his actual condition.

My yard was recently aerated, which resulted in my cable being cut. We have bundled internet, TV, and phone, so this was a huge pain in the ass. The lawn people shouldn't have been able to damage the cable, since they only go down about 1-2 inches, but apparently the cable was that shallow.

Now we have a temporary cable line running across the backyard, just sitting on top of the lawn. Some (cable company-provided) contractor will be out at some unspecified date/time to bury the cable. I'm fully anticipating that the cable installer will dig a trench that cuts through our irrigation system. At that point, we'll have to have the irrigation guy come to repair the damage, which will obviously result in the cable being cut again. I'm picturing this continuing Mobius-style until I have no yard, cable, irrigation system, money, or wife. Good times.

True story - When I moved to LA last time there was a beautiful young lady who lived over me. The first night she brought a guy home at 2:00 AM and proceeded to make a bunch of noise. When it happened the next night, with a different guy, I decided to talk to her.

I caught her in the hall and explained what was happening, that she was waking me up when she got home. When I finished, she looked right at me and said, "Well, that's my lifestyle." and walked off. When the police came that night, they said that she said I had threatened her life, lol. I explained that no, I had threatened her "lifestyle", lol. I told them that from now on I would call them and they could talk to her and her "friends". (Which I knew would be bad for business)

She moved two days later and I moved upstairs to her place for the rest of my lease. I suppose I should feel bad, but I don't. (The cop told me he wanted to kill his neighbors every night he went home.)

Yup, that's all I deserve no doubt.

His comments last night make a lot more sense to me now. He was acting strange, told me that I was on a good path and he was really proud of what i was doing. very atypical for him.

Death sucks, no matter what. He mentioned to me that he didn't want to go. That's really sad.

j,

"A little angry because we were all kept in the dark wrt to his actual condition."

Not enough lead time to plan out shopping spree?

j,

"Yup, that's all I deserve no doubt."

Interesting choice of words. Seriously, why do you think you "deserve" anything from him or anyone else when they die?

spider,

I had the same basic thing happen to me a few years ago, without the irrigation system involved. Besides the ditch-digger not showing up when scheduled, the burial of the cable was quite unintrusive, and I could barely tell it had been done when he'd finished. He didn't go digging and unearthing lots of ground. I think they just kinda shove the cable into the ground somehow without tearing up the lawn.

Let them know beforehand about the irrigation system, and I think you'll be fine.

Bunch of jelly ill-bred poors ITT

Nah, it's ****ty because we got the impression he was doing much better than he was - last year we were told he was in remission, then only a few days ago that there wouldn't be much longer left. He always seems fine, you know. I guess it was his wishes that everyone would treat him like normal until he went.

Jesus christ, I don't. You really are an unrelenting piece of ****, you know that? At least I'm aware of what a POS I am.

j,

LOL, gtfo, of course you think you deserve some cash.

No, but you're totally cool for ripping on someone with a terminally ill family member. Like, that's really great of you. Good job man. You've totally exposed me. Lots of e-peen points for that one.

What a sad, waste of life you are.

Tyler's post has me thinking- what are y'alls standards for bitching about sex noise? I've always felt like I could never be mad at somebody getting some and that it's just part of what you tolerate in apartment life, but I've never had neighbors for whom it was frequent/loud enough that I'd had to put much thought into the issue.

He isn't the one who came into the OOT LC thread to brag about his dying grandfather iirc

You're the one who introduced the situation talking about money. Don't know that you can play the sorrow card at this point.

j,

I'm just gonna assume you're trolling now.
