OK, here's the situation that I believe is calling for this. I live in a fraternity-like house during the school year with about 50 different people. This summer, 4 of us decided to stay in Ann Arbor and get a sublet because we couldn't stay in the house. When rooms were decided, I agreed to take one of the rooms in the attic which is much smaller, provided I could keep my comfortable recliner, computer, TV, and Xbox in the living room, all open to public use except my computer. They all agreed, and even with my huge chair we still had seating for 7-8. A couple weeks ago, the other three guys approached me about moving my recliner out of the living room. I obviously wasn't that receptive to the idea because it was part of the agreement when we moved in, but I said I'd see what they had to work with, and if I liked it I'd be willing to make a deal with them.

Today I went out of town all day. When I got back an hour and a half ago, I see they took my chair and stuff out of the living room, and replaced it with another couch. The setup is ok, but now this leaves me with nowhere to put my chair as my room is quite small. Now I obviously feel like I need some sort of retribution, it doesn't have to be anything huge.

My ideas are:

1. Moving everything back into the living room as it was yesterday
2. Moving all of my stuff (even the stuff I have in the living room for public use) into the largest bedroom, and moving all of his into my current bedroom
3. Buying a lathe and putting it in the living room in place of the new couch.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I have a lot of time tomorrow to get this done. All of my friends work from 8-4 and are out of the house, and because I play poker and don't have a job I can be around the house as much as I want tomorrow. Also, I have to live with these guys for 2 more years, so I don't want to do anything that will cause a huge backlash.

tl;dr version:

Roommates agreed to let me keep recliner in living room, they removed it without consulting me, lathe a distinct possibility upcoming in this matter.

your roommates seem more rational than you, put the recliner on craigslist and buy beer with the money

Unless one of your roommates puts a lathe in your living room, we don't care.

TALK TO THEM. Try to find a reasonable compromise.

Seems to be the answer to any roommate question.

Yeah OP this doesnt seem like a prank situation, it seems more like a "talk to each other like adults" situation

i think if i was your roommate and i came home and saw all the furniture moved back, i'd consider it very passive-aggressive. Actually, for those talking about this in the other thread, this is pretty much a perfect example of extreme passive-aggressiveness.

I already talked to them. I said if they offered a reasonable compromise that I'd be willing to move my recliner out of the living room. They then moved my recliner without even a warning that they were going to do it.

Also, I went into the empty room where they put my chair and other things (computer, etc.) and they took the back part off the recliner and put a ransom note on it.

While not close friends this isn't a roommate situation where they're basically randoms. It's not like I'm going to move everything back and never speak to them about it. I'd just like to do something that grabs their attention, proves a point, and hopefully provides a good funny story for years down the line.

get Daphne Moon to ask the movers to get the green recliner back ?? then get Eddie to take a **** and continue as per above?

EDIT - terribly boring but a prankish passive-aggro thing isn't too spectacluar here imo, just maybe ask them why they did that and wtf you should do with your ****?

I can't imagine a recliner that would tilt men so much they would move it out of the living room. Pics please OP.

So you live with three other people, and they all agreed after an initial timeframe that multiple spaces to sit are better than your place to sit.

I can't see the words "roommate" and "situation" in the subject line without posting this:

please elaborate on this "passive-aggressiveness."

i think i might have tendencies that fall into this category, and which is why i get walked on by everyone in my life.

You should probably research the term. Passive aggressive people don't get walked on - they're universally despised by everyone who has to deal with their lame attempts at making points.

I think this is clearly the best answer. And also the first. Weird.

I stopped at the 50 person fraternity "like" house. Who the **** lives with 50 other dudes and isn't in a frat or a dorm.

Idiots who think situations like this are time for a prank are basically the reason we have bad things like war, disease and fat chicks in halter tops.
