Other Other Topics of course!
Also, OP, I'm a little sad you never answered my question in your other thread, I'm very curious to know how long youd rather spend as a teenager in love than as a billionaire
Wrong, wrong, wrong. I'm mid 30's, with a decently successful dating life.
To answer your question:
The reality is that the EV is about even for the 2 scenarios. A coin flip if you will. One is just front-loaded much more heavily. Let me explain.
Teenage Love scenario: EV is 100 points, due to novelty, etc. etc.
Billionaire scenario: EV is 2 points a year, due to hedonic adaptation. Obviously it's a bit weighted to the front for the first year or two of novelty. 2 * 50 years of life = 100 points of EV.
So together, you can have 200 points of EV.
BUT, if you've missed out on teen love, you've missed out on one of this most beautiful things in this life. If you've missed out, you cannot redeem your points. Your max EV is only 100 points.
