Damn right I'm conflating Drake and J Cole. Both hard like Tupac and Peyton Manning, although as far as I know neither raped anybody.

Track 5 is definitely my favorite song, but the end of track 1 might be my favorite part on the album.

Wow you suck at reading

You're conflating (perceived) skill and influence

Not drake and j cole

Kanye has been doing it for years. He's changed music several times. Kendrick is like the John Coltrane to Ye's Miles Davis.

Kanye changed rap more on the production side, which is cool. But I don't personally think rap is really all that better for it. It worked for him because if Kanye knows anything, its his own vision and what he wants to put out there. Kendrick, on the other hand, is changing what the genre can say and do. And he more then raised the bar on lyricism and content.

I thought you were making a reference to that lulzy tweet from the lol complex writer(she even stole the tweet herself). Seems weird to actually believe it. Espeically considering i dont think kanye is attemtping even close to the same things kendrick is.

I'm talking more about their influence and importance as a whole.

I guess i just dont see anything earth shattering with kendrick in terms of style. Concept albums have been around before. Jazz influenced albums have been around before. He is just really really good at what he does.

He is amazing at telling a story and making a cohesive album, i just dont think thats anything new. His consistency is unparralleled in that regard.

Aka i strongly disagree with your assertion that kendrick is changing what hip hop can say and do.

Well, I'm sure its not just excitement induced hyperbole that is going along with what I'm saying, but I do see other's sides of it.

Kendrick isn't broadening hip hop as much as he is broadening what is viable commercially within the genre. Though I don't really see a renaissance of conscious hip hop on the radio happening so I agree with the sentiment that he isn't doing it on the same scale that Ye has changed the landscape. That said he is closing the gap imo

1wayfrank is one of my favorites atm, his new tape is a bit uneven but for the most part really good:

The simplest way I can put what I was saying is that of the things that Kanye says about himself and his music is more like what Kendrick is actually doing, more so than Kanye's actual music.

All I can say about Future is he looks like a skinny Hannibal Buress. I liked that first song on SNL.

Track 7 on untitled unmastered

So, the line is apparently "shut your f'ing mouth and get some cash you bish you" but I say "shut your f'ing mouth and get some cashew bish you"

I'm not at all convinced that mine isn't the lyric and certainly not convinced it couldn't be.
