It's the full sample to Nas Is Like. It's pretty amazing how Premo chopped that.

ok, i'm listening to the song and i hear it but it definitely didn't register in my head when i listened to your clip. guess that is why premo is one of the best

i thought you were just posting some intro or interlude where a dude talks about jesus.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. The Boom! sample is also really, really nuts. I don't know **** about producing, but his chopping is unbelievable. I RUV DJ PREMIER!

Obviously Infamous is a classic, and I also own Hell on Earth, but are any of their other albums/solo albums worth checking out? What do you recommend?

Well you've already got their two best but Murda Muzik is pretty good. It really moves away from the really grimy, dark production of HoE but its good some excellent tracks. Where Ya Heart At, Quiet Storm and Spread Love are probably my favorites.

H.N.I.C. Prodigy's first solo record was alright, same with Return of the Mac but if you aren't a pretty big Mobb fan, there probably isn't much point in checking them out.

Believe it or not HoE is my favorite Mobb album, hands down. I listen to that the majority of the time if I'm in the mood for some real gritty, street ****.

Just started listening to Janelle Monae. She's kinda like a female fusion of Andre 3000 and Gnarls Barkley. her sound is really expansive, and she's a gifted lyricist. This is probably the fringe edge of hip-hop, as her sound incorporates all manners of styles, but hip-hop influences are there as well.

That Rhymefest track linked is awesome. Thanks for that.

Everyone should be picking up Rising Down, the new Roots album. As with all their stuff it doesnt disappoint. Great spots from Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Peedi Peedi, Dice Raw and Malik B. I'd say its almost as good as Game Theory, close but not quite (no shame, Game Theory was awesome).

I downloaded the studio version of this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_56YPH50bGI). To me it seems over-produced with some superfluous synth-crap drowning out Cope's incredible vocals (which make the whole song) and the cool guitar.

So then I downloaded the original Citizen Cope - bullet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMy8l...eature=related) - and it's way way worse. With nasty strings drowning out his vocals, which almost seem turned down. How stupid is that? Talk about a guy who needs a clean acoustic sound to showcase his incredible voice. It's like what Phil Spector did to the Beatles later ****. Ugh.

I dunno maybe it's just because I heard the live version first. Very curious what other's think of the three songs.

I really need to figure out how to get the live version from youtube into something I can listen to on my iPod.

Also, not to offend the rap purists in this thread, but this is the kind of stuff I really really like - rap mixed in with some funk or catchy rhythm hooks or space sounds or whatever (IE - Trick D and Cee Lo - Dro in the wind, Knocturnal - Muizk, Noreaga - Nuthin' -- you can tell I've been out of the loop for a while).

Any more recommendations along these lines would be greatly appreciated.

Ugh, I wish Carter 1/Dedication 2 Lil Wayne still existed, he could have done this beat justice.

Although I'm sure it'll get a lot of play in the clubs and on the radio.

To whoever mentioned, yeah Get Ya Mind Correct is a great album, real good summer album.

You seem to be pretty open to different types of rap, so I would maybe give Z-Ro a try. A nice Houston rapper who gets slept on way too much.

Also, Twista and Do or Die, reppin my home Chi-town.

Anyone with me that a lot of the pop rap is total bull**** nowadays? I think I need to tape into a vein of some underground rap or someting. Most of the new stuff is just like the rap world's version of The Backstreet Boys.

Every time I turn on the radio it's the same kind of song. It's more of an upbeat R&B song with a T-Pain type dude singing and a really, really terrible rapper going at it for a bit. I quickly turn back to country.
