btw in your original post you said "I'll cut to the chase"
Did you know this phrase does not mean to skip past the boring parts of the movie and arrive at the car chase scene

I've quit all my jobs without having another one lined up, and I'm doing great in life. Have a very well paying job at a start-up company with stock options and benefits. My mom argues with me every time I quit and has told me several times that I'm a disappointment to her, and we stop talking for a few months afterwards, but I always know that if I'm not happy in my job, I've made the right decision by quitting in the pursuit of happiness.

LOL @ haters.

this thread is so funny to me because it tells you a lot about corporate america imo. the negative nancys are basically the bitches; they're the ones america turned into proper drones.

i quit my job at ESPN last month. it was a well paying job that required 10-15 hours of week a week. i don't miss it in the slightest because i had my reasons.

OP, no matter what happens after ur job it's a valuable life lesson. if in a few months time you regret it then no biggie. either way it's gonna force u to get off your ass and challenge yourself as a human being. keep in mind evolutionarily speaking it's the man's responsibility to provide; i feel like that is hardwired into us. so it is natural for you to second-guess yourself. but just remember why you did it in the first place.

you quit the job because you respected yourself. you would not tolerate the BS, because it's not about the paycheck, it's about being able to look at yourself in the mirror at the end of the day. it takes a lot of balls to do what you feel is right, and quite frankly that's something most of this forum can't relate to.

what most of the american posters don't know is the state of Royal Mail's finances. You were probably better off jumping before being pushed imo.

lol. the point is that when youre trying to get a new job you dont want them to talk to your previous employer and be told "yeah one day he just got up and quit". he now has no references to put down from that time working. you are either unemployed, a ******, or both.

technically this cannot happen. most companies have very strict policies with regards to the info the can divulge when a new potential employer is confirming references...

"yes he/she worked here...from Aug bla bhalah bu-blah to Sep2010"

...yes that doesn't make 100% sense to me, but its just the way it is.

You're assuming my EV is in terms of money. It's not. It's in terms of happiness.
