at least the applenazi's are not trying to push red apples on people.

I'm not 100% on my apple varieties, but looking at some pics, I think my favorites of the common varieties are Golden Delicious and Braeburn. - Honeycrisp looks like a good apple too.

have none of you had a Gala apple, or do you just think they arent any good?

Crunchiness of apples (and other foods) comes from tiny sonic booms when cell walls snap. When crunchy food gets old the cell walls break down and no more sonic booms.

(article about this in a science magazine my kids get this month)

I haven't paid attention to the names of the varieties. That looks like a good apple. I have generalized that I prefer flat colored apples to glossy. Of course I don't expect that that holds true for all varieties.

Alobar,

I've had a ton of different apples, don't really know many of their names though.

According to this, I prob wouldn't like galas tho: http://www.blameitonthevoices.com/20...pple.html?m=1#!

Galas are OK if Honeycrisps aren't available, but are pretty meh.

When I was a kid, we had a pippin apple tree. They were delicious, but I don't really see them around now.

I edited gala into my list of better apples but i was on my phone so it wasn't worth the effort and like someone else said if you like gala just eat a braeburn.

do a lot of posts get deleted in OOTV like for example the homeland thread? seems like people are just randomly saying **** sometimes answering questions that don't appear to exist.

braeburn and pink lady aren't terrible or anything but they aren't tart at all. people that prefer sweet apples also probably think filet > ribeye and breast > thigh.

granny smith is still the best apple.

If it were possible to find a mcintosh without a bruise, they would be pretty elite. Unfortunately it isn't possible and apple bruises are the nut-low.

Cadillac is making tremendous strides to change this and their work is worth high praise.

The new CTS, for example, is lighter than the 5-Series to the tune of 300 lbs which is huge. Basically the entire front end of the car is alumium. It makes more power and comes in around $2k cheaper. I think it looks a hell of a lot better, and unlike the 5 series which is akin to a Buick, the CTS is allegedly pretty fun to drive.

As a BMW fanboy there's almost no chance I'd take a 5 over a CTS.

My mom has a CTS. Good car. Calling Cadillac bloated is probably 10 years behind the times, but metaname was making a joke.

Speaking of bloated, William Shatner is performing at a small place near me tomorrow night and I'm thinking of going.

edit: online sold-out and $48, so I guess not.
10-22-2013 , 12:14 PM
Can you drive the CTS round corners? Does it break after 17 miles? Does it do 3 MPG? I thought those were the reasons people bought BMWs instead.

He was joking? I thought he was giving them a compliment. A picture of my favorite car on earth. When cars were cars...

I do wonder if being a metaphor for excellence is ever depressing for Michael Jordan. It must be pretty weird that no matter how hard he tried he could never be the Michael Jordan of baseball despite being the Michael Jordan, of baseball.
