I'm not familiar with that commercial, but it does sound like something I would do.

HUMP DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

The second best hump commercial going, only bested by the once where Bo Jackson pronounced the world "HAMP" in hilarious fashion.

One of my sons does a pretty good camel and camel woot woot is his current go to when good things happen

I dont get the love for that commercial at all. Do you need to have a 9 to 5 to somehow find this funny or something?

It was mildly amusing the first time I saw it (by mildy amusing, I mean it didnt make me want to claw my face off like your standard commercial does), but just like pretty much every commercial, its now just annoying as **** cuz ive seen 500000x

I found the commercial to be mildly amusing. I really need to keep up to date on these things because I could easily walk around at work going "woot woot" without realizing that I'm inadvertently making a pop culture reference.

Serious question: Does the idea of "hump day" have any real currency in office life? I've never actually heard anybody use that term.

I think it's hilarious because everyone has that obnoxious coworker. Plus, he's a camel
10-09-2013 , 04:05 PM
I prefer to say "Yata Yata!"

No. To me the slightly antiquated nature of the term is part of what makes the commercial work. Nobody but a camel would care at all. (this is why you don't employ a camel).

Speaking of televisual advertissements, can someone who lives in NY please explain wtf this ad campaign was about? I think it's blessedly over, but it always gave me the heebie-jeebies

Decades ago the government of New York went into competition with organized crime and largely ran them out of business by instituting their own numbers running organization. Now they spend millions in taxpayer dollars running advertisements in an attempt to get poor people to buy more lottery tickets by suggesting that it will easily lead to great riches.

The lottery is a part of the Jewish plot to keep everyone poor. Those are clearly Jewish trolls running through the streets bewitching people so that they buy lottery tickets

Wow- that IS weird. There's a reference I am not getting at all or something. Why are those weird things "little luck".
10-09-2013 , 04:16 PM
also, every single commercial has your token black guy in it. Yet not a single one of those weird little guys are anything but white, even if you freeze on the end where there are a hundred of them. wtf is that about? Im telling you man, this is some rabbit hole ****!

All,

There's an OOT tipping thread, right? Couldn't find it w/ a quick search. Anyway, I thought this was pretty interesting: http://jayporter.com/dispatches/obse...rt-1-overview/

El D,

The freakonomics podcast did a really interesting podcast on tipping, where they also talked about that restaurant, that youd prolly enjoy.

prolly covers a lot of the same stuff (I only skimmed that link you posted)

There was a whole NY lottery ad campaign with one of those little big head guys who was named "Little Bit of Luck". The point being that all you need is a little bit of luck to win a prize in the NY lottery. I guess this commercial is saying that little bits of luck are everywhere so play the lottery, you fool. Or that the Pep Boys mascots will overtake the city if we don't pass a strict immigration bill.

Not sure. But I do know it would be worth more if you didn't jizz on them.

Alobar,

I can't imagine you need the money enough to entertain the even minuscule risk of facing what I assume to be are pretty harsh penalties for selling that volume of pills. This whole situation has a very "Orange is the New Black" feel to it where this is how our well meaning and not really a criminal so you can root for him fried ends up in pound me in the ass prison.

Alobar,

Yeah what dibs said.
