It probably isn't a life trick for a large part of OOTs demographic, but is a good tip for the do-it-yourself crowd.
How much laundry do you do? You aren't mistaking Olive Oil for detergent are you.

Try drinking a 5 hour energy before/during drinking (if i want to crash at 3am I drink it at 10pm.) This has worked for me 100%. I open my eyes in the morning expecting my head to be pounding and stomach turning but they never are. It also can't hurt to drink some water sometime before calling it a night.

maybe a mod can split off an "oot life anti-tricks" thread for posts like this one and "just leave the bathroom door open while you shower!".

That's about 8 years of laundry for me...

Yeah but you don't get the satisfaction of knowing that in an apocalypse, you could make your own laundry detergent while everyone else is wandering around stinking. (As long as you had washing soda, borax, grated naptha soap, a two gallon pot to boil water in, a 5 gallon bucket, and plenty of hot water)

With everyone involved in sports and outdoor activities.

It is about 667 loads at $0.30/load or 12.8 loads per week. Making the soap costs about $0.02/load. I do 7 or 8 loads a week for my family and give away at least that much again. Not that I would be buying them soap though, so I suppose not fair to call that savings. I suppose I could shop sales and use coupons and buy commercial soap for ~0.15/load or so.

So I save even less than I thought, supporting my point that doing it for the savings is not a good motivation.

Actually yes, this is it. I stocked up before Y2K and then again when Obama got elected because he was going to make making homemade soap illegal.

I would have thought that an OOT Life Trick would be, "Buy pre-made washing liquid so that you don't have to waste a heap of time f***ing around and making your own stuff."

B complex vitamin with a glass of water before bed.
Glass of water with 2-3 Tylenol sitting on nightstand. Set your alarm an hour before you have to get up and down both, then sleep for another hour
Eat burnt toast for breakfast if your stomach feels ****ty

Just try the 5 hour energy and you won't have to trust your drunk self to do all this stuff.

Yeah, mixing Acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol) and alcohol is supposed to be pretty bad for your liver.

No. It's bad for your liver if you're a regular heavy drinker and take a bunch of tylenol. Your liver isn't gonna be damaged by 1 night of drinking.

Give me a break. Having shampoo dispensed with a pump is definitely a convenience that saves a small amount of time (~10 seconds per shower) and debatable frustration. Whether opening the slippery top of the container is a pain, or setting the container back down among your girlfriend/wife's dozen bottles of various crap without knocking something off the little shelf is annoying, it is an unquestionable net positive.

Let's not pretend that this thread is about cures for cancer or ways to find a deeply fulfilling life. We're talking about pineapple slicers and flushing the toilet before you are fully done urinating.

To add to shower-time optimization - get a curved shower rod. Then enjoy your new luxuriously large shower, and never again have the cold curtain stick to you/brush against you.

There is a difference between things that save inconsequential amounts of time because they are cool and things that save inconsequential amounts of time because of a perceived lack of skill. It's the difference between being efficient and cheating. Pump shampoo is where the line has been drawn.

I think we can all agree that we've spent more time arguing about shampoo than we can conceivably save in our remaining lifetimes of showers.

If you're suffering from shampoo aniexty, just shave your head and it will go away. No need for therapists or anti-aniexty meds.

1) I don't believe that pump shampoo saves ten seconds for an accomplished bottle squeezer/pourer.

2) Any time saved is negated when the pump shampoo falls from the shower shelf and snaps off the pump dispenser when it hits the shower floor, thereby making all future shampoo dispensing from the broken bottle a PITA. And yes, that mostly happens when the bottle is 90% full.

wtf, pump shampoo is clearly superior to normal and you guys who disagree are terrible human beings

Wow, i must be slow. i thought this whole debate on the pump dispenser was related to the laundry detergent discussion.

You're actually jumping the gun.

I'm fairly certain that it was leading back to that 'cause somebody's gonna recommend reloading the pump shampoo bottle with laundry detergent since it's cheaper/ounce.
