But actually just wanted to point out a kink in the list in case OP just let it fly from there and the song had 2 entries.

I agree with LFS that there should probably be some democratic effort to trim the fat in narrowing to 160. At the very least to save time do it for the borderlines, don't think anyone would mind grandfathering in Stairway.
I'm just going with the title Marc Bolan gave it. Why do you hate Marc Bolan?

I agree it's far from their best song but most of their other amazing songs probably wouldn't get many votes bc most people just don't understand how much ass T Rex kicks.

VU is borderline but I'd let them in. Joy Division definitely not. Not close.

I am a huge Marshall Tucker Band fan, so while I'm not sure if they belong, I'm going to nominate

Can't You See - Marshall Tucker Band

Which is probably their best known song, while not my favorite, which would be "This Ol' Cowboy".

I agree...Been an Aerosmith fan from day 1 and love the early stuff. I always look forward to a new release though, hoping they capture that early fire and have been sadly disappoionted for a long time. Maybe this year?

Well, I don't listen to the radio but if they aren't played on classic rock stations I'd attribute that more to the fact that they were never really a commercially popular band. Anyway, someone in the old thread said that GnR was classic rock bc they heard it on classic rock stations and GnR is clearly not classic rock. So, I don't think what classic rock stations play should be our standard.

Anyway, I think bands that are kind of borderline like Velvet Underground, T Rex, David Bowie, Roxy Music, etc., embody the spirit of classic rock and should be included even though they may not technically be classic rock. But at the same time, I don't really care and this would still be a good pool of songs if that type of stuff is ixnayed.
