Fair point, although someone who doesn't play poker won't know the different between 1-2 and 5-10. I make about 40K, not great, but not awful for a single 26 year old. Next year I'll be playing higher limits and will earn more.

You can make 40k a year playing $1/$2? How many hours a week?

Wow, just checked out that body builder forum. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that everyone's avatar is a shirtless selfie, and to be fair they seem to have more success on Tinder than I have. But why does everyone keep saying "aesthetic"...I'm guessing it's some sort of meme on that forum?

"might work" is something that normal people say when they inexplicably want to meet you after being called a dame. You can reply with "How about Uptown Cafe at 8?" if you want a date, or with what you wrote if you never want to talk with them again.
It's been the tone of our convo over the past few months. That said, time and place would hvae been optimal were it not for the fact that Chicago is a huge ****ing city so coming up with a decent place in the middle is impossible without knowing where she's located, hence my follow up question. W/e I have her number and I'll shoot her a text and see what happens.

40k before taxes is still dope though esp with prospect of moving up to $2/$5

I think it's time you give some serious consideration to dating men, I'm sure gangstaman would be willing to help guide you through the process.

Obviously. Where did I say my take home was 40? Most Americans when asked what their incomes are will tell you their pre tax income

Gangsta's off the market though. Anyway, I mean, there were plenty of hot girls in FL. But I never thought to myself "OMG, the selection here is so much better than the northeast" maybe it was just Tampa? South FL might have hotter women

Unwanted life advice/

If you are only making 40k and playing 1/2, the career opportunity cost makes poker a pretty terrible idea. Esp if you aren't even doing anything cool with it and just living in philly and grinding live, your life is actually probably worse than someone making a comparable loving with a job.

I quit poker after 3 years professionally when I basically plateaued at40k when I was 26, and that's with tax free earnings and a favourable exchange rate. Yiu definitely are not winning life remotely grinding 1/2 at 26 with that income.

He sure isn't. Nobody is winning at life making 40k a year. But he will be if he doesn't plateau at 40k. Your experience ends there but will be irrelevant if he surpasses that

I earn significantly more than that, but I would quit my reg full time job for the chance to make 40k playing poker because I am 23, love poker, absolutely hate my soul-sucking job, and the prospect of climbing up the ladder to eventually make more than my soul-killing office job sounds so juicy. Hell I romanticize the idea of playing 12 hours a day and get in 16 hour sessions on the weekends when I can. If I could just play poker and survive that would be heaven for me right now
