I've run into that situation a couple times before. My suspicion is it happens when they're either a) interested but only moderately, probably trying to keep options open while they feel they have better ones available, or b) when they're new to/not savvy about online dating and have unrealistic expectations about the role of the female in the process (i.e., it's entirely the man's job to do the courting). I treat it as a red flag and cut off communication if more than one response is like that.

I'm not sure how you can make sure someone isn't a murderer regardless of how you met them, other than to be a very good intuitive judge of character, or pickup on obvious warning signs and red flags. It's just beyond me that someone this sick even exists.

Online dating seems like the worst way to go as a serial killer, nothing like a mandatory electronic trail leading back to you complete with confirmation of a meeting

Good recommendation, I'm going to stop meeting people altogether.

Are there any guides/examples of good profiles? I need an upgrade.

In general, if a girl isn't being responsive with questions to me, it can also be because I'm not being engaging enough, so I usually take it as a cue to move the conversation to a date faster. Some people just don't like communicating online, so it's not that weird to just say like "let's keep talking about this over a drink." The goal of talking to someone is ultimately a date anyway so if the conversation is dry just move there faster.

That is a fair point movieman. Maybe I waited too long to seal the deal and get a date.

Opposite. If the conversation sucks it's not going to get any better IRL.

+1 - unless you're looking to hook up right away, it's going to be a waste of a weeknight when they turn out to be just as dull IRL

I disagree. I've met up with people who just didn't communicate much via the dating app but were fine in person.

Obviously it's different person to person, but my point is more that you can wear out your charm over the app and you should always aim to get off the app and to a date.

Edit: I'm also not talking about no conversation. I'm talking about a conversation only happening over an app going stale. You're not there to find a penpal

I agree with movieman. Some people just don't like and/or are not interested in communicating over text.

I've had people who were really curt and took aged to reply via text, who were really engaging irl. Likewise, people can be quite engaging online, and just have no personality irl.

So have any of you guys actually met the person you're dating online??

I guess I can see the appeal of a gf online only...she doesn't interrupt your life etc. But how do you do a dinner? I'm assuming you just eat at the computer while she does the same?...

What about intercourse? And how do you begin that without actually having the girl there?...I guess you start sweet talking and then slowly you both start taking clothes off? Just sounds a little weird to me and really didn't think many people did online dating.

Is it mainly so that you can continue playing Warhammer in the other window? So confused...

Meeting in person ruins all the fun. This is the 21st century so these types of online only relationships will be much more common going forward.

I recently married my now wife via Skype and we went on a honeymoon to Hawaii which consisted of us both watching a Youtube video of Hawaii simultaneously. It was incredible.

Wow, ok I won't judge...But this is a little unusual. Anyways congrats man. I guess you can go on holiday whenever you want, and no cost!

Yeah Dudd this is true I guess. If you've watched the movie "Her," I guess that's where we're heading. Virtual reality girls coz they don't get in the way, and are ready/willing to have sex at a moments notice. Still, does seem like a lonely life...

Thanks man!

Yah, it's great being able to travel so much. We're already planning our next trip for this weekend. I think we might go to Mars.
