I agree with one, though I don't hate it. I'd just rather they were running from a clown with a chain saw.
Disagree with number 2. I thought the dude that got hacked in hostel was the main guy who lives, so up until he died I was all "OMG! How's he gonna get out of their now!?" The dude who lived got tied up also, but he managed to escape. There is definitely suspense and a chance they make it out ok.
