My at&t plan with 3 smart phones and a feature phone is still way cheaper than what I could get on the new shared family plan. No love for low-data users. Going to just have to cling to my $15 data plans until they won't let me anymore.

That's 2 years you'll have the phone as well. Its a Joke. They're now completely kicking the arse out of the phone market.

Isn't 24 month completely standard?

IMO Verizon is a solid company, and has good customer service as well. I don't subscribe to their video or ISP package, but I wish I could based on what I've read and been told (my hood doesn't have it yet). Also they have rock solid coverage/service for my iPhone (superior to ATT where I live).

However, they have a TERRIBLE website - it's slow, freezes, laid out terribly - it's bizarre that they're so good in so many ways, and kind of suck at their online presence.

I believe so - and it's not like the economics aren't very transparent to the consumer - you get an upfront discount on the hardware for a minimum services contract period so Verizon/ATT/Sprint can be profitable in the long-term.

If people have a problem with this they can go with a prepaid carrier that sells the iPhone - you buy the hardware full retail but have a likely cheaper plan but more importantly no contract. I'm not sure if ATT/Verizon/Sprint offer a prepaid for iPhone (I would think they wouldn't), but Cricket Wireless does IIRC - here's a good article talking about prepaid carriers in the US:

I work at a small company and this is my inbox for the last couple of days.

The last email, from Larry our IT guy, says:

It's great to see such enthusiasm for the upcoming training opportunity provided by <Vendor>.

However, you may want to discourage others from accepting this invitation as the 'icloud' seems to be a little persistent with the status updates.

Should be getting the iPhone delivered today, but I think I won't start using it until I get a case for it. Looked for one yesterday, but selection was minimal at Target and Radio Shack and I didn't see anything I liked. I did see the Otterbox Defender but that seems like overkill.

Otterbox Commuter case is a great middleground.

Yeah just kidding. Waiting to find a case before use is obviously ridiculous, as is the whole idea of having a case.

It's a phone. It's designed to handle general use and its not even made completely of glass anymore. It will be fine.

Buying an iPhone then covering it with a case.... alrighty then

I'm not trying to make any kind of point with it. I think it's funny. People need lols for hump day.

Either my co-workers enabled this feature (which I doubt) or there's a default setting in iCloud that spams everyone's inbox with every update that comes through for the event. I've gotten 4 more emails since I posted the picture.

Meh, a case is a good idea for a lot of people. iPhones have a good resale value and some people are rough on their electronics. A case could mean a couple hundred dollars in the end.

If you saw the stuff that lived in my fiance's purse alongside her phone, you'd understand.

Well I guess if you keep it in a purse that makes more sense. I personally wouldn't fatten up the thinnest iPhone ever but to each their own

I drop my 4s all the time and (knock on wood) it's fine

I just thought it was funny not even wanting to use it until you had a phone condom for it tho

Oh, I just meant I don't understand even what's happening to your inbox? Are you synced to an Exchange Server, and is iCloud doing something to create more updates?

Really? You have been very lucky - I know like 20 people who have dropped/cracked iPhone 4, you know, what with the fragile all glass back and all. But I basically agree with you (these otterboxes are lol huge) and with iPhone 5 performing so well in drop tests I may not get a case at all. But I definitely think you need a case for 4/4S.
