Hey everyone,

I’m pretty new to poker and recently started spending more time learning about the game. I’ve been watching videos, reading beginner guides, and trying to understand things like bankroll management, pot odds, ranges, and position play. There’s a lot more strategy involved than I originally expected, so I joined this forum to learn from more experienced players and improve my overall game step by step. I mostly play low-stakes games online right now, but I’m interested in getting better at cash games and tournaments over time. Any advice, study tips, or beginner resources would be appreciated. Looking forward to learning from everyone here!

Could I interest you in a friendly game of chess instead?

Welcome, but you came to the one sub-forum that doesn't discuss poker. OOT is for "just about anything else in life except poker, sports, religion and politics." Try the Beginner's forum for general poker discussion and advice on setting up a study program. Once you feel you have all the general concepts down, you can get a lot out of posting hands you have questions on, first there and then in the specialized online or live strategy forums.

The first thing you want to do is invest in a nice set of chips. Don't skimp there! If you are light on funds make it up by getting cheap cards.

have you read The Theory of Poker by David Sklansky yet?

it won't make you a winner by itself. but it will get you thinking like a professional poker player, which is the first step.
