Goof,

I don't remember, man, one of the hyped up sandwiches they had a big sign for. It was kinda stressful deciding with all the options. I think I maybe got some ****ty onion rings as well.

I also bought some crackhead a milkshake or something.

el d,

that carl's at market and powell, like all fast food on market, is not a fair representative of the rest of the chain.

At pizza hut buffet they will make whatever you request within reason at least at the two I've been to. They even offer to bring some or all of it to your table.

That's how pizza ranch works. If you request a specific thing they'll bring it to your table for first dibs then set it out.

- a significant % of customers get the food to go instead of eating in the restaurant
- a business model that is based on assembly-line style food production, quick customer turnover, and high volume

I could probably try to list some other criteria, but I guess it really just comes down to the fact that if you had a spectrum with McDonalds on one end and a nice sit down restaurant on the other, Five Guys/Chipotle are still much closer to McDonalds than to the sit down joint...

+1

No drive-thru does not mean it isn't FF.

that CFA sandwich and nuggets look amazing

waffle fries are elite too

somewhat related, but I had the zinger spicy chicken sandwich from KFC and was super impressed - their sides (in canada anyways) are the worst though

IMO KFC fries are tops in FF but I agree the sides are the worst. If forced to have sides I get the nuclear green coleslaw only. The potato salad and macaroni salad are awful. Wish we get the radiation orange mac & cheese in Canada.

I may order KFC tonight for dinner actually.

I used to really love it, to the point that I made a special effort to stop by every time I went to the big city. Then they closed all the ones in the West.

There are plenty of carl's jr. locations in the west which is the exact same thing.

Carl's Jr/Hardees used to have GOAT fries IMO, when they were fresh cut. Now they're meh. I had a Big Jack a few weeks ago for the first time and thought it was very comparable to Carl's Jr's main burger (whatever it's called).

I went and had the McDonalds Build-a-burger at one of the trial restaurant locations today.

Building the burger is done on ipad's attached to the wall. It had some different options and sauces normally not found (I think) at McDonalds.

Sauces included: ketchup, mustard, mayo, BigMac Sauce, BBQ, Spicy mayo and creamy something

also they had guac, grilled onions, along with standard burger toppings.

You could put pepper jack, American or white cheddar. Cheese was free and you could put multiple slices.

You were also able to specify number of patties, add bacon and type of bun.

The stupid part was that after you did the ipad thing, a mobile cashier would then hand transcribe the order to their POS station and take the rest of your order. It was brain damagingly inefficient. The plus side was that the McDonald's had a TON of workers to help deal with the crowds. They probably had 3x the number of workers for a McDonald's of that size.

The burger was about $5.50 ($7.50 combo). It was pretty tasty but not to the level of a 5-guys or Smashburger.

I was talking to one of the zillion workers about how long they've been doing the build-a-burger. They said since early November and that McDonald's is pulling the plug on the concept TOMORROW. LOL. Nice timing for me.

Yeah, I've heard that before but they sure don't taste they way I remember Hardees. It took a couple years back home for Carl's Jr to build out a lot of locations and maybe the menu changed. Whatever it was, Carls Jr is teh suck compared to the Hardees I remember.

I am amused by the Hardee's great buns commercial but not enough to have tried them yet. Might get to that this week since we aren't getting any mcreeyubs this year.
