Tomorrow morning will be my fifth straight day of mcdonald's breakfast: egg mcmuffin combo + 2 sausage burritos. But I've been supplementing with energy drinks to make sure my heart doesn't clog. I know this can't be good for me, but I need a filling convenient breakfast.

1lb beef $4
Head lettuce $1.25
Cheese $2.25
Sour cream $1
Taco shells $1

86 cents a taco! About 50% of retail. I've also tried Ortegas taco packet, it's trash in comparison.

Note the sour cream and lettuce is enough to make dozens of tacos

Sorry if this old news, I've been on a taco making bender

We've been making a **** ton of carnitas tacos at home, pork is goddamn cheap. Really fantastic stuff.

I picked up this beauty at Rick's today.

My kid got to pick dinner Saturday night and picked Wendy's. 2 for $5: Dead. I'm devastated. However I saw an offer for a free spicy chicken sandwich with purchase in the app deals, so decided I'd go premium and buy a pub pretzel bacon cheeseburger, + the free spicy. I tried to order but kept getting an error that I didn't have a qualifying spicy chicken sandwich in my cart so it wouldn't let me check out, despite the sandwich sitting there plain as day. I worked myself up to monkey tilt level before my wife came over, took a look and pointed out that the free chicken sandwich was a Sunday-only offer. A) Devastated again. B) WHY THE **** ARE YOU LETTING ME CHOOSE AN OFFER THAT I CAN'T ACTUALLY APPLY JFC.

At this point I furiously check for the next-best offer, and best I can come up with is 10% off $15 order. Seriously? 2 bucks off is all I'm getting?

I still can't believe I did this, but I kept my original order and spent $14 gd dollars on a wendy's bacon cheeseburger ($7.19) and a wendy's spicy chicken ($6.49). It's two days later and I can't look at myself in the mirror. It's going to take some serious soul searching to forgive myself.

A few silver linings: the pretzel pub cheeseburger is pretty darn solid. Every piece - beer cheese sauce, fried onions, soft pretzel bun - was really nice for fast food. Tasty. A- for taste, B- including value .

The filet on the spicy chicken was HUGE. It is by far the biggest piece of chicken I've ever received from Wendy. Unfortunately, it was noticeably dry. Flavor was good but it was so dry it took away the enjoyment. Overall B- for taste, F+ for value with Popeyes offering a vastly superior product for 40% less.

The real winner? On a whim I threw in a sugar cookie for $1.19 as I was checking out. I was hoping to get a subway level cookie, but this thing blew away my expectations. It was way bigger than a subway cookie, and the texture and flavor were both home runs, deliciously sweet with an almost buttery richness. Holy cow it was good.

The kfc spicy is only 3.99. It was passable and if fresh probably decent.

Panic audibles must be factored into the FF business plans for apps. It's like unused gift cards. Must be free billions every year.

I'm not remotely hungry but feel compelled to stop for a Popeye's spicy sandwich during my errand outing.

BK 2 for $5 is now BOGO for a buck which ends up 2 for $6ish. Still real solid value, threw in a $1 bacon cheese and am fat and happy.

................

it's not what is usually called fast food but it's very fast so I put it here

2 days in a row I had Perdue frozen chicken - just microwaved it
the first day was honey barbecue, the 2nd day was breaded tenders
they only make it with breast meat

I was shocked and how good it was - I didn't really expect that
I put it inside some bread and made a sandwich and it was better than any fast food chicken sandwich except Popeyes

real cheap too - I got 1.5 pounds for $6.99

The King has trimmed his offer page a good deal, but he is still offering 3 whoppers 3 cheeseburgers 3 small fries for $12.99 which in Seattle is almost criminally good value (did I mention I paid $14 for 1 cheeseburger 1 chicken sandwich elsewhere on Saturday?). I ordered it, plus an 8 piece mozz sticks, 10 nuggets, plus a chocolate sundae for the road - $21 total with tax.

When I pulled up I saw the ads for the new hand breaded chicken sandwiches. I hadn't seen those in the app (and looking now, I don't see them now, nor do I see them on www.bk.com which seems weird). I make a snap decision I need to try one. There are four types I think: regular and spicy, and with pickles or lettuce and tomato. All priced $5.99. I went spicy with pickles.

Man, I was impressed. This is the closest anyone has come to the popeyes experience. Huge, juicy piece of chicken, with good, crispy batter. I think the spice comes from an oily spicy sauce slathered on the chicken itself - closest comparison would be the KFC Nashville hot chicken sauce. They also have a "signature sauce" on the bun which is pretty much mayo. Now, I'd still take Popeyes over BK's version, particularly when Popeye is charging $4 to the King's $6. But I can get to BK in 12 minutes, vs. 28 to Popeyes in light traffic, and in those conditions I can say I will probably choose BK 4 outta 5 times. The sandwich was pretty damn good.

Other notes: BK's chocalate sundae just isn't nearly as good as McDs. I can't tell if BK's was supposed to have hot fudge or chocolate syrup, but whatever it was it's not half the topping McD's version is. Didn't taste bad, but not impressive either. That said I'd probably order the sundae for $1.49 vs. a milkshake for $3.29 I think it was.

After eating the chicken sandiwch and ice cream in the car, I then had actual dinner when I got home. Whopper was spot on. Also had 5 mozz sticks (very good as usual), 2 nuggets (not as good a nugget as McDs or Wendys but great at 10 for $1.49) and half a fries (pretty decent for being 25-minutes out of the restaurant by the time they were eaten). I think that's the biggest meal I've eaten in months, I felt horrible afterwards, I kept getting out of bed to get drinks of water all night, and I'm terrified of the bathroom trip I have waiting for me sometime today.

I'm not sure if this is a bad beat but my drive thru Popeye's made me wait 15 minutes for a spicy combo. I asked for extra Mardi Gras mustard in a panic when she asked "any sauce". My food came piping hot and the chicken was HUGE. But it was an original!! The Mardi Gras mustard made it amazing though so that's a good breakthrough for science. They also gave me a small box stuffed with piping hot fries.

Baltimore is just sketch in the FF game. It's not even a coinflip for good food + quick service anymore.
