Wendy’s has had this pretzel pub burger and chicken sandwich before, hasn’t she? I’m pretty certain I’ve had it at some point, and I wasn’t in love with it.

I’m even more certain I’m going to try it again and be instantly whisked to the last time I had it and be really upset with paying that much for like a 6.2 double burger. The 2 spicys I down with it will make up for it I hope.

I'm currently on a Taco Bell/Wendy's DUAL boycott so I made my own, better!, tostadas, and a taco or three to wash them down:

and then loaded up the Popeye's app for 6 sandwiches, 3 of each

I even used your taco sauce, *****! Making crunchwraps tomorrow too, Taco *****!

What exactly is going on in that last pic? Looks like you just took the chicken and sauced it up.

I had homemade tacos tonight too. Probably need to fire up a couple more.

Also really want a Popeye's sandwich and that pretzel burger. Appetite rages, sigh. And there's an untouched birthday cake in the fridge too. Sigh.

Edit: actually I think I see the bottom bun there.

I will happily do a haggis taco TR, 27, but which menu did you see it on?

God they better have a whisky sauce option instead of salsa. Epic.

Don't mind 27, he's just having some fun with u.

tbh I never would have guessed TB would have shipped across the Atlantic and anyone would eat it. But, I have found the TB UK menu! Advice for ordering:

for the love of God, DON'T ever order regular tacos from TB. They are a totally overpriced sucker item and one goes to TB for their other stuff.

Chalupas, crunch wraps & grillers are/were standard here (RIP grillers) and are fine to order.

Items that seem to be currently unique to TB UK that look intriguing (actually I'm mad we can't order these here):

- Volcano Burrito
- Crispy Chicken Soft Taco

TR would be appreciated if u go

Seriously? I'm actually a little bit disappointed. The idea of a haggis taco had grown on me in the last hour or so.

The crispy chicken soft taco sounds pretty good though. Right, will try and do a TR this weekend.

Then gave you a ****ing BETA LOOK at their new **** app and a free taco valid for a week or some dumb ****. F that noise.

Was taking a piss and saw this sheet sticking out the garbage can! Old lady indiscriminately tossing coupons, grrrr.

I had a light and sensible breakfast, but gonna need to HAMMER at some point. Those steakhouse burgers are in play, I'm severely overdue for Popeye's sandwiches. And of course Wendy wants me to eat her pretzel.

Stay strong my brothers.

To anyone else wondering why we should boycott TB:

- New CEO has been constantly slashing items left and right. Started with Double Tacos back at the beginning of the year. These are not tiny removals, TB mainstays like the 7 layer burrito, potato taco, tostadas, triple layer nachos, and mexican pizza are gone forever.

- Speaking of the beginning of the year, they had this whole "commitment to vegetarians" ad push. But then come summer, they remove a bunch of veggie favorite items from the menu (and potatoes altogether).

- All this menu slashing results in the value menu only having two items that actually cost a dollar, one is the limited time DSTs and the other is ****ing cinnamon twists

- The "free item" app fiasco that 27o detailed, it was clearly just a ploy to get everyone to download the app. They never intended on giving away very many $5 boxes. They barely tried to make up for it.

- Speaking of the mobile app, they're doing dumb stuff now like removing the Quesorito BUT you can still order it via the app. Sounds OK, until you realize you literally can't order it in-store or via drive-thru. It's strictly app only.

- They are clearly trying to simplify the menu to the bare essentials, all supposedly in the name of "wait times." (I've never had a wait time issue at TB, have you?)

- Having odd, taco-based creations is what really makes TB shine. Now that the whole menu is basically burritos and tacos, what's the point? You can find better versions of these almost anywhere.

- Beefy Fritos Burritos is replaced by the Beefy Burrito, which has less stuff but costs more (in many places)

That said, let's take a look toward the future of TB:

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO:
Chicken Chipotle Melt - Nationwide
A new permanent fixture on our Cravings Value Menu, featuring marinated all-white meat grilled chicken, creamy chipotle sauce, and cheddar cheese rolled and melted together. Fans can get their hands on the new $1* Chicken Chipotle Melt starting November 5.

Dragonfruit Freeze - Nationwide
Introducing Taco Bell’s new Dragonfruit Freeze, a tropical frozen beverage swirled with a burst of dragonfruit flavor, available nationwide starting September 24. To deliver on our contactless service, all Taco Bell freezes are now served with a flat lid.

Green Sauce - Regional
Did your local Taco Bell previously offer green sauce as an additional customization option? Our Food Innovation Team has spent time carefully crafting a new and improved recipe, now including flavors of fire roasted green chilies, pureed jalapeño and hatch green chiles to ensure it has an extra kick that pairs perfectly with any menu item. Green sauce will be returning to select markets nationwide starting November 5.

Quesalupa - Testing in Knoxville, TN
Our fan favorite Quesalupa is finally starting its journey back to menus nationwide next year, kicking off on September 24 with a test* in Knoxville, Tennessee. We’ve taken our classic chalupa shell and stuffed it with a cheese blend of real pepper jack and mozzarella so there is delicious melty cheese throughout.

WHAT WE’RE SAYING GOODBYE TO:
Mexican Pizza: We know some fans may be sad to see this one go, we are too. One silver lining of saying goodbye to the Mexican Pizza that might help you rest easy is that removing it from our menus helps us work towards our commitment to leave a lighter footprint on our planet. Currently, Mexican Pizza packaging accounts for over 7 million pounds of paperboard material per year in the U.S.

Pico de Gallo: Our fresh diced tomatoes will be replacing pico de gallo. Guests can still order Fresco Style, which will soon mean swapping out nacho cheese sauce, shredded cheese, mayo-based sauces, and low-fat sour cream with tomatoes.

Shredded Chicken: Shredded chicken will no longer be a protein option on our menus, which means we will be saying goodbye to the Shredded Chicken Soft Taco, Shredded Chicken Burrito, and Shredded Chicken Quesadilla Melt on November 5.

7 Layer-Burrito: The 7-Layer Burrito may be gone, but Taco Bell’s menu is easy to customize. We encourage guests to play around on our mobile app or on our website, you never know what fan favorites you can recreate! (this kinda **** is so insulting, lol)
tl;dr my boycott continues

It's mind boggling that they're still removing stuff.

No more pico de gallo, which means Freso style is dead.

No more SHREDDED CHICKEN, like wtf?

Even less vegetarian options? Their official response seems to be, "**** you, put beans in it."

whatthe j fish,

Saw an article I almost posted here that layed out the master plan of this new CEO: They want to shrink the overall footprint of the actual b&m, as well as the employee footprint required to get it out the door.

All that stuff you listed is geared towards getting smaller physically. The algorithms have spoken.

They got rid of the pizza because of the paper biodegradable box?? Idiots!

And why futz around with the green sauce? The old stuff was fine. They must be looking for a cheaper substitute. Eff that, charge me a friggin nickel for the old green sauce, just bring it back.

I understand this, but it's idiotic.

They're seeing the success of other FF/FC places with rigid menus and trying to replicate it. Their new CEO used to run Chipotle, and is basically morphing TB into that style of restaurant-- grab and go. COVID is a convenient excuse to start rushing this change through, while focusing on drive-thrus.

The reason this is stupid is because TB's whole shtick is having a combination of old favorites and wacky LTOs. Not to mention, if they *really* want to shift to the likes of Chipotle or CFA (places with 10-12 ingredients), then they need to seriously step up the basic quality of their ingredients. Perhaps they will get there through some growing pains, but for the time being it's only going to result in less variety for more $$$.

I used to be ride-or-die for the Bell! These are sad days.

Edit: To summarize, all the unique things about TB...
- best value menu in the game
- Interesting LTOs to try out alongside old favorites
- Vegetarian/Vegan haven

...have been reduced to nominal products with increasing prices, that other places do better.
