AYCE, costs the about the same as LJS and actually tastes good, unlike LJS. although you may feel like your arteries are clogged when u walk out.

BTW, one of the things that makes LJS great isn't the fish or chicken (both taste about the same as each other). It's the tartar sauce and vinegar (and hush puppies).

I made my first trip to Church's last week and my god it was bad. Chicken was KFC quality, and the only side which looked interesting was some jalapeno poppers which, somewhat predictably, tasted like something microwaved out of the freezer. I will not be returning to Church's!

This week I'm back in Chicago and I got an Italian beef from Buona. It's a chain which I think used to only be in the suburbs but now it looks like they're in Chicago proper. It's not the best Italian beef I've had, but a mediocre Italian beef is better than a very good version of most other sandwiches IMO.

So last week I was driving home late and was starving and lo! the local Taco Bell. I know it's the worst but I thought I'd keep it simple and got a bean burrito with beef added, soft taco, and a couple mini chicken quesadillas. When I got the bag it felt a little heavy but I thought maybe they screwed up the burrito and made it too big because that's a special order, or something. Nope.

When I got home I saw a couple double decker tacos with no meat, some kind of potato taco, and a crunchwrap disc. I took a bite of the crunchwrap and there was beef in it, so I started eating it but that little sprinkling of meat was all that was in there, just a pinch, like it got stuck to the employee's clear plastic glove. So they gave me some vegetarian's order, but they somehow managed to get just a bit of meat in the largest item, that's how this TB rolls. They give you the wrong order, but even with it not being what you ordered you can still tell they somehow messed it up. I ate most of the crunchwrap, maybe 3.5/10, didn't go for the other stuff. Then I thought of the other people who got my order and likely got mad, then saw a "bean" burrito and probably went for it but no sir there's a spoonful of beef in there. SE 50th and Powell Taco Bell: GOOD LUCK.

I actually like Church’s quite a bit, but the one close to me has to be nicer than like 90+% of average ones. Though...I’ve liked most of the ones I’ve been to. Weird, I didn’t think I was all that religious.

Yep, I kind of got that feeling, that I was at a particularly bad Church's. OK so I won't go back to this particular one (Telegraph Ave in Oakland) but I'll give Church's another shot if I see a location that looks nice.

About to set out towards NYC. I awake hungry but am going to wait for a good option. Just from one day of looking at my surroundings/freeway signs, Boston area appears a fast food wasteland.

All Ricks, BK, Wendy's, and Subway.

I forgot to include Dunkin Donuts. Every "food next exit sign" has between 2 and 4 of Ricks, Subway, BK, and DD. And NOTHING ELSE.

So I detoured for an Original Hamburger Sandwich. Had to pay $2 to park. Sandwich was... ok. Absolutely nothing craveable about it. Best part of the meal was the root beer. The strawberry rhubarb pie I took to go was good. The warm tap water to wash it down was not.

Well, nothing wrong with giving it a go. Uncool that it was underwhelming, but we know you'll rebound with deliciousness up the road.

Tomato looks A grade and beef looks juicy. Surprised that wasn't above average.

Cheers! I always thought these were pretty tasty burgers I just never think about Farmer Boys when I'm craving a burger. Basically it's a better done Whopper. Places that serve this style of burger are seemingly on every block in socal. $2 though, hell yeah I'm in.

That looks nice. Wish I had 3 of those in a sack next to me.
