Had both BK tacos and Jack tacos. They are super close to each other and I think Jack’s are better if only slightly.

Here are some of your local Seattle chains:

Dick's Drive-In - When I moved here, I heard it referred to as Seattle's version of In-and-Out. I don't think the description is particularly close (you'll never notice the veggies at Dick's, where fresh produce always stands out to me at INO), instead I think it's closer to classic 50s-era McDonald's. They have a very limited menu - burgers, fries, shakes and ice cream. I know BH has said he doesn't care for them, but I am very fond of the burgers and love the peanut-oil cooked fries. The shakes are good too. They put tarter sauce on their signature burger and have it available for fries as well - that's a regional thing I think that I happen to like. There's a beer festival on father's day and my family has made a habbit of getting Dick's on the way home when I've had several beers, I imagine after your beer fest would be a decent time to try it (there happens to be a Dick's a quarter-mile from your beer fest ) The burgers are small, McD's regular hamburger sized, so I normally go with 1 deluxe, 1 regular cheeseburger, 1 fries + tartar and a shake.

Ezell's - Fried chicken joint. I think it's very good, although like a lot of Seattle, I'm usually sticker-shocked at the price. I have only had the chicken strips, never the bone-in but I'm sure that's good too. I like spicy food, but I like the regular strips better than the spicy - but best bet is to get half-n-half to try both. Sides are very good - potato salad, beans and cole slaw all good. Also, they have awesome blue cheese dip (I think it's homemade). Their claim to fame is Oprah tried it while in Seattle one time and liked ti so much she flew a huge order in to Illinois for a birthday party one time. I don't know if it's THAT good, but then again my step-mother tried it and loved it and now we have to stop and get it on the way back from the airport every time.

Ivar's - Clam chowder & fish n chips. It's pretty good. Again, seems expensive. Have only had it 2 or 3 times in my 5 years here so I don't seek it out, but am not opposed to it at all.

Kidd Valley - My least favorite of the list, my understanding is they first opened as stadium food for the Mariners/Seahawks, then branched out to stand-alone locations. They're OK, I guess, but pretty standard fast food burger, that again, feels too expensive.

does anyone else find DQ Blizzards to be oddly tasteless? I haven't had one that I've ever finished.

What is the absolute nuts, tho, is the DQ Arctic Rush (or whatever they call it now) float. I get the Blue Raspberry:

Can't say that I've ever had that issue, then again my favorite Blizzard was the banana split blizzard.

Someone needs to hit up Rick's and get a blue Minute Maid Slushie and a vanilla cone or two (minus cone), throw them together and see how it matches up to the DQ Arctic Rush.

7-11 is having a big azz sale today til 7 pm.

Dollar 1/4 lb dawgs, a free small slurpee, dollar grill items and stuff.

Got two big ol dawgs with jalaps, spicy brown moostard, some patented cheese (patent pending) and chili, a big gulp Powerade (it's got electrolytes) and a small Big Red Slurpee for like 3 bucks.

Gonna hit up another slurpee stop before the sale ends

Formerly the Mr Misty Float, that is my new (for a couple of years now) goto at DQ (Carmel Pecan Turtle Blizzard being a very close second)(I go to DQ too often. Thanks for the Die-beetus!). Coldest drink in town (that saying is probably trademarked by someone).

I prefer the purple flavor, or the red. Artificial grape flavor, FTW!

Thx for the heads up, I forgot about 7-11 Day. Took the kids for free Slurpees and a 1/4 lb dog each. No line when we got there, but a line 30-deep when we left. (Some summer camp took all the kids, lol.)

Had Jack's $4.99 BBQ Bacon Double Cheeseburger combo (medium fries/Coke +$.49) today. Burger was good, two patties, cheese, bacon circle, onion rings, BBQ sauce. Kinda like the Western Star? Was pretty happy with the results. Not a fan of Jack's regular fries. Should have went with the Curly Fries option, ldo.

I probably could have ate two of the burgers, and felt just awful afterwards. After 10-15 minutes (now), I'm happy I didn't order a second.

nobody took me up on this offer from back in February, so technically it's still in play

Alright cool, thanks for the recs! I'll see what I can get to. I checked out the ezell's prices and they weren't too bad. About what I would expect. They're still a little cheaper than the hipster/trendy fried chicken places in so cal.

Yeah from the pictures I've seen and the little bit of research I've done I wouldn't call Dick's the INO of Seattle either. I'd give that title to Pick Quick. It's seems to have the same sensibilities as INO. Looks like they both started in the same year and like INO they probably haven't changed much since. I'll most likely give it a whirl and report back.

Man, I have never heard of Pick-Quick in 5 years here - but yes, menu looks spot-on and picture looks like Dicks + tomato & pickle. I'm going to have to investigate someday (straight 3.0 Yelp rating be-damned.)

I went to the Pick Quick in sodo several years ago. The regular burgers are 1/8th lb, is that about the size of a mcd cheeseburger?

About $11 for 1/4 lb cheese, fries and soda. I live 10 minutes away yet have never been back.

I haven't heard of it but recognize the logo. In Sodo.

Gonna get this next week, and definitely gonna tell them to hold the mayo.

Just had a thought, this could be the bomb if it was a mix of regular and spicy cheetos.
