The thought of getting sick from fast food because the kitchens are dirty or whatever doesn’t really cross my mind. Seems like improperly prepared food from a real restaurant is a much greater risk as it actually requires cooking to kill whatever is on it.

I've seen the most purposeful contamination in your mom n pop food shops, bars, & dives.

Almost every one I worked at I saw workers cross contaminating raw meat with the same bread, fries, & other foods. Gloves & without gloves. Not to mention cross contamination with cleaning chemicals, etc as many of those kitchens have 1-2 cooks that do all of the work from cooking, to unloading deliveries, food prep, to washing dishes. They're usually so busy doing everything, that a lot of times that they're just getting food out as fast as they can.

Fast food, because of they're hardcore regulations when it comes to health and safety codes are some of the cleanest kitchens that you will get food from.

After failed attempted at Cane’s (overly crowded) and Taco Bell (went wrong way) I ended up with my first Popeyes visit in years. Verdict is...it’s ok. The chicken is hotter and fresher than it looks but the spicy barely registers and the thigh is too fatty. Breast is decent, fries are decent, biscuit is great but probably like 1000 calories. Maybe I’m doing it wrong or this location just sucks; my instinct was to get tenders but I knew that I had to try the real deal fried chicken, so I got that. Maybe another side would’ve been more interesting but I was craving Canes in the first place.

McD’s chicken strips were McDecent the signature sauce is nowhere near as good as Cane’s.

R.I.P. Giant JBC, we hardly knew ye.

So i had a regular $4 meal, and added 3 piece tenders for 3.49. Soon afterwards i realized i should have ordered the $5 tender meal and a bigger burger a la carte for better price value, but c'est la vie.

The tenders were decent, definitely below the ceiling of Mcdonalds tenders. However the s'awesome sauce is better than Rick Donalds Signature.

Got the bad news yesterday.

Couldn't bring myself to order anything else.

I walked out and went to Popeyes.

I don't want to live in a world that's too small for a Giant JBC.

Just buy 2 JBC's and build one by yourself. It's like 30 more cents for 2 extra buns and more fixins.

I just used an expiring dollar off a value basket coupon at Culver's, $7 including tax. Double cheeseburger with pickle and onion, med fries med Pepsi. Everything was good, fries and burger both tasted hot and fresh. Their crinkly fries are a cut above imo.

Any benefits over his father, other than save a buck or two?

i do this often. it's superior anyway - it fixes the proportions mistake on the giant; the jbc is perfect.

Elite meat to cheese to bacon ratio. The same slices of bacon are on there so it's a giant JBC with 6 slices of bacon on it without the salad.

It's so primal.

Culvers consistently delivers. One thing that I'm not crazy about is their use of red onion on their burgers. I like onion well enough but reds can be overpowering.

i won't claim that it's as good as the baconator or son of baconator or grandson of baconator with a portabella on top, but my recent wendy's hack is to shop from the 'right size, right price' menu and make my own burger.

as master and kioshk said above, wendy's is on the pricey side. what if i told you that for lunch today i had a 1/4 pound burger with double cheese and bacon, all the toppings, and a side of 4 piece spicy nuggets for $4 total? I believe the 1/4 pound single alone runs $4...how did i get free nuggets with the burger?

order off of the 'right size, right price' menu and make your own. each burger off that menu is the equivalent to an 1/8 pound burger, so get two. my order today was a jr. bacon cheeseburger and a jr. cheeseburger deluxe. take the top bun off of each, slap the two remaining halves together, and you have a 1/4 pound burger. total cost $3. it's up to you if you want to eat the remaining buns. the nuggets are an additional $1. if you want fries or a soda, order those off of the value menu as well.

this is also a relevant time to mention that my local wendy's has installed a coke freestyle machine in the last few weeks since i've been there. looks like free refills are the norm now.

wait....what?!? do you mean red onion is stronger than white? i suppose if the white is a vidalia or walla walla sweet this is true, but in general a typical white onion is much stronger than a red.

I’ve never had Culver’s but I like Checkers/Rally’s burgers (not only) because they use red onions.

Whatever other fast foods chains use are not as sharp as Culver’s. That’s all.

They have a weird taste. They call them butter burgers or something like that, and it's what they taste like. I suspect you'd probably like them a lot or not at all. I don't like them.

In other news, I tried an Arby's Gobbler. Pretty good. At 7 bucks and change it's very expensive compared to burgers, but compared to Subway/Jimmy John's, etc it's a very competitive price considering its size. I liked it more than Subway/JJ's.

A scathing review from p4b might be the internet’s most reliable endorsement.
