I took the kids to Steak n Shake last night. Their burgers are always great, but historically, my issue with them has been their fries. So last night I pulled a pro move: patty melt with a side of chili instead of fries. Patty melt was, unsurprisingly, great. And the chili was really good, too. Kids got shakes so I got to try some from each of theirs. Excellent meal, excellent value.

Naked Egg Taco, while a great low carb option was very underwhelimg. I took a "dressed" version too which comes in a Gordita shell and it was way too much chew. It's a flatter, more rubber like version of your typical fast food flat "egg". I ended up dumping all the ingredients onto a plate with some salsa verde from home, while realizing I have everything in the fridge to do this myself and taste way better.

Naked egg taco sounds like the title of a great Mexican porno.

Yup. Taco Bell breakfast is surprisingly good and the sausage crunchwrap is the king. Also a fan of the grilled breakfast burrito and the breakfast quesadilla.

Naked egg thing doesn't appeal to me, but I generally don't like crispy fried eggs.

not trying to claim a FF place can pull it off, but a properly prepared fast-fried egg with a soft yolk and crispy white is amazing.

edit: just discovered Daym has a review for the nekid egg.

That's Spanish style. Frying eggs in lots of hot olive oil yields that result.

i honestly thing Daym could have a top 10 (if not top 5) show on food network if they gave him a shot. his reviews and personality are as good or better than the clowns they currently have....looking directly at you fieri.

I just had the $5 Giant JBC Meal.

The Giant JBC did NOT disappoint.

It was epic. The bacon was cooked perfectly. Fries and nuggets were great as well.

I would sign/start a petition to never allow TB to have steak items as specials - people want your mysteriously delicious ground beef Taco Bell, not your overpriced "steak"! Shredded chicken I could live with, that stuff hits the spot sometimes.

$5 mcnuggets with sriracha mac sauce.



mcnuggets were crunchy and still warm. not bad. breading not so tasty. 6/10

mac sauce did taste like sriracha and thousand island. heavy on the relish inside. 6/10

I'm still not sure if I like the sriracha mac sauce. I think it'd be better on a sandwich not necessarily for nugget dipping.

Sriracha Mac sauce did nothing for me on the nuggets. Not getting again.

+1 for really enjoying Daym, I would enjoy grabbing fast food with that guy.

Tangent re bolded: I was working at Harrah's/Harveys in Tahoe ~2010 and we had Guy Fieri come in and do a stage act for us. I was super skeptical, but he absolutely killed it on stage. Crazy good energy, funny, crowd was super into it - I was very surprised how much I ended up enjoying the show. I normally think he's downright boring on DD&D, but thought he was great on stage. (In comparison, I loved Man vs. Food and thought Adam Richman was super talented/entertaining. But, I heard they brought Adam in for a stage show the year after I left Tahoe and heard it was a terribly boring show. Different skills sets.)

Tried the queso from Chipotle and give it a 5/10. Just not enough flavor and a tad bit to runny for my liking. $3.25 for small and chips, $5.45 for large and chips. Size wise its a decent value.

Just had a ton of CFA, but they had no honey roasted BBQ sauce. Even through the immense disappointment it was still delicious.

Maybe we don't want a Whopper, much less two of them.
