Futurama sounds like a good choice.

It's at least worth a try.

I made it pretty clear what I wanted and it was obviously not critically acclaimed TV for 10 year olds.

I dont think its that hard an ask for critically acclaimed TV that the whole family can invest in.

A good example imo, would be something like LOTR, great world building, characters, story, good balance of scary stuff/violence, obviously amazing source material, hobbits,no awkward sexy time. etc etc.

Something like that serialised for TV to the appropriate production level could be appointment TV for the whole family.

Obviously LOTR has been done, but it cant be the only decent source material out there of which the above applies.

It's So Easy.

Music fans will appreciate it, especially if you grew up in the 80s or early 90s

Not watched it, looks like a tween drama I could maybe tolerate if it was on rather than straight up hate, but not something that is really "destination" TV for the whole family in the way GOT/BB or whatever are for adults.

Ill give it a watch so am not just judging by cover though.

Once upon a time is the obvious choice.

Also, I remember enjoying The 10th Kingdom though it's been awhile so ymmv. I think I saw it on Netflix at some point. Not sure if it still is.

This is a great rec, Bob's burgers as well. Though I think he was looking more for a drama series. But both of these are very good for family viewing (Futurama explores sexual issues more than Bob's Burgers though, and if you aren't keen for your kids seeing other kids acting like brats towards their parents, BB might not be right either)

Friday Night Lights is too mature for a ten year old.

It would be great for a high school kid.

The last two hobbit movies had a pretty sexy elf though... dirty thoughts were had.

Zootopia is a good movie, my 2.5 yo likes it and my 1.5 yo will watch it. She(youngest) still wants Nemo but having watched that everyday since June, Zootopia is a welcomed change.

Can someone give me a recommendation?

I'm a 28 y/o male. I liked House of cards, Breaking Bad, Bojack, It's always sunny, workaholics, Flaked was surprisingly good, I like documentaries quite a bit.

Basically, if I have to watch another episode of Dexter, Friends, big bang theory, or some other crappy drama/sitcom with my girlfriend because we can't decide on something i'm going to slit my wrists.

The art of flight was really good, you guys seen that? Great relaxing flick watching kids snowboard.

Get Hulu and watch You're the Worst. It's the best comedy on TV right now.

Be forwarned, I know some women who don't like watching sex scenes with their boyfriend/husband, and there are a few graphic ones in the show. Especially the first episode.

That is some heavy heavy fail.

Anyway, I guess I should exit thread, if someone is going to suggest those shows but I am the one going to draw heat for pointing out how poor they are, I guess I am not going to have a good community experience.

Some of the Star Trek series may work for what you want. I'd recommend Stargate, but it's not on Netflix.

I mean, I've always kind of assumed it was a chick show. I tolerate it but i'm certainly not enjoying it. Just like Orange is the new black, what guy watches that? It's at least a 5-1 Chick/Dude ratio there imo.
