I like weird movies, art films about whatever, or nothing, usually the darker the better. Does it make normal people want to kill themselves? Yes, perfect. That said Entertainment was too much for me, not surprising after reading that this was made by the same team that brought us The Comedy which I didn't find funny at all. I guess I don't get the genre they're going for.

*The few bits of Neil Hamburger doing his act was mostly good, that's the kind of super weird **** I enjoy. Same for the Tim and Eric show, brilliant, insane, comedy. These guys can all do fringe comedy, and very well. Drama, notsomuch

finishing up season 1 of FNL and really enjoy it.

so the consensus is to just skip season 2 right?

no i doubt that's the consensus. personally i can't imagine skipping a season of a show i know i'm going to watch to the end (and you are going to watch it to the end if you enjoyed S1).

it's been a long long time since i saw S2, and the facts are that yes there are 1-2 very major very bad plot points (which get mostly ignored later), and it's a short, unfinished season due to the writers strike. if you feel comfortable skipping based on that and reading the wiki synopsis, cool. i would watch it as i'm sure there are a lot of redeeming features and great scenes, but just lower your expectations.

I'd watch s2 of Friday Night Lights, but I always find out from the internet that shows went to **** a few seasons before I stop enjoying them.

Runnin' Down a Dream is such an elite documentary, thanks for the recommendation westhoff. I replayed a few of those album-take stupid clips 3 or 4 times.

I went ahead and just skipped s2. Loved s3-5 but never had any interest in checking out 2 after everything I had heard.

just looked it up and S2 actually has one of the best and most memorable scenes of the whole series. it's listed on this page (obviously huge spoilers abound): http://popdose.com/friday-night-ligh...-ten-episodes/

i wouldn't skip the season.

Yeah, def worth watching. Also, from Wiki:

Movie spin-off[edit]
A feature film is in the works and is set to be directed by Mitch Glazer. Stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Olga Kurylenko, Danny Huston, and Kelly Lynch are set to reprise their roles. Bruce Willis and Bill Murray will also have starring roles.[30]

I couldn't stand Friday Night Nights, not even one episode. And I'm a Texan. Complete alien to me, hated it with a passion. No idea what people are seeing there.

Jeez I'm just the opposite, the tone of this article makes me want to avoid watching any of this at all.
It sounds like Dawson's Creek with cheerleaders.

I'd go with a cross between Dawson's creek and varsity blues, and not just cause vanderbeek is in both

i don't want to come across overly defensive as there are certainly lots of issues with the show, and i can definitely imagine someone watching the first episode and thinking 'wtf, i have no interest whatsoever in high school football or religion, not sure this is my thing'. but watching 2 episodes of 76 and saying 'i have no idea what people see in that show' is kinda like reading 5 minutes of a classic novel and declaring it as trash.

i think that people who decided not to watch the show or hate the show think that everyone who loves it is just majorly into football, and because they aren't, they won't enjoy it. however, everyone who has watched the show is basically in unanimous agreement that the football scenes suck and are comfortably one of the worst parts.

the main reason the show is highly revered is the 'realness' of the characters and their interactions. the matt and grandma stuff is great, but everything taking place in the coach household is simply sensational. i'm not sure there are any family scenes in any show that can live up to those.

I gave that show a shot once too and decided after a few episodes it wasn't for me. Seemed too soap opera-ish. But since everyone is raving about it maybe I'll give it another try.
