So I watched Nacho Cerdà's "Aftermath" at around 1am last night after reading some reviews online. It's only 30 minutes long and curiosity got the better of me. Fast forward to me at 4am in bed awake wishing I hadn't watched that. I'm not sure if it was the gore, which at times could look a little rubbery/fake, or if it was the depravity that stuck with me. Most likely the latter (and believe me this is one brutal, graphic short). I've always been a fan of horror films so I'm surprised this one escaped me all these years.

I watched Cerdà's thematic follow up "Genesis" today and it was quite profound and thoughtful in how it explores grief. A sculptor is creating a statue of his deceased wife which begins to come alive as his own life begins to fade. As with Aftermath, there is no dialogue in this 30 minute film.

Yeah I noticed a ton of those too but most of the subjects didn't interest me enough to add to queue. Would you recommend the North Korea one?

Watched Nat Geo Camp Leatherneck and Secret Yosemite. Both were subpar and I am not inclined to watch another one.

Interesting. I definitely miss words now and then, but missing things on an initial viewing is part of the experience. I'm playing a video game now where you can't turn the subtitles off and I hate it.

Doesn't it ruin comedic and dramatic timing as well?

Digging the new ps3 app. Much improved UI and faster. The first title I tried (Parks and Recreation S2) had far better picture quality than before and dolby digital. Rewind/fast forward is smoother too. My only complaint so far is you can't scroll left/right from the details screen like you could before.

It was decent. Most of the information about North Korea I already knew about by watching other documentaries though. This docu had a lot of footage that I hadn't seen before which I enjoyed. The other documentaries focused more on the "tourist" destinations that the filmers were forced to visit during their stay in NK. This wasn't as prevalent in this documentary as they were filming an ophthalmologist who was doing humanitarian work in NK.

PS3 app is so much better. I'll def watch more streaming that I don't have to leave the couch to throw the disc in.

Seems a lot faster too

Just finished watching office season 6 last night. Still have all seasons of Battlestar Galactica queued up. Netflix is a beautiful thing.

Yeah I must admit that the wii has a much more stable connection as of now. I'm hoping they can fix this. I'm not sure if it has to do with certain movies or what cause my wife watched a movie and I watch a tv episode with zero problems but 1 movie that I tried to play wouldn't even start and another kept freezing so meh.

Not really, or at least not for me, but I see your point (delivery is key to it being funny, e.g. Mitch Hedberg).

Probably a good idea, is R.J allowed to post in this forum again?

Thanks. It just doesn't strike me as a subject I'm interested in hearing more about, which is why I was on the fence.

It seems like there are multiple versions of the ps3 app floating around. Mine doesn't have the triangle "Video Browse" option shown here. In video > netflix > options > info the version shows 2.0. But mine has been completely stable, and I've watched a ton already. In fact it's only buffered once for a few seconds in ~8 hours of use.
