But seriously what are the good classic movies on Netflix instant? I remember cross referencing the AFI 100 and got bored because it was like 0% but that was a long time ago.

Check out Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Classic TV show from the 50s. Storytelling holds up.

The Hunt is great. One of my favourite films from last year. It has been nominated for best foreign film at the oscars.

The Long Goodbye is really good.

Robert Altman updates the exploits of 1940s hard-boiled gumshoe Phillip Marlowe, who ferrets out a killer in the City of Angels circa 1974. Now, he's a wisecracking cynic who deals with coke-addled, sun-worshipping suspects and nudist neighbors.

So am I supposed to care about blackfish because SeaWorld covered up some crap or because whales have feelings or because a couple people were killed?

agreed, blackfish was ******ed. only thing I learned from it was the hyprocrisy of Americans who love to point fingers at other countries. Onos Japan and Whales Wars and Dolphins, etc etc

not really sure how you got this out of blackfish since it didnt talk about international whaling or international anything at all. it was pointing out a huge corporation that was covering up facts to increase their profits that could have potentially saved lives. and about the general inhumanity of seaworld takes towards orcas.

sexy evil genius - found this to be mind numbingly bad. the whole movie is based around what's supposed to be a genius plot, which isn't genius at all. it was kind of fun seeing seth green and trachtenberg and starbuck from battlestar, but i'd avoid seeing this - 1/5

potypool - kind of a neat concept that falls flat near the end. it's about a radio station in a small town that gets overrun by kind of zombie/creepy sick people. what the cause of it is is kind of a cool idea, but the last 20 minutes are pretty lame - 2/5

into the abyss - doc about a guy in texas who gets the death penalty. the doc talks to him, his friend (also part of the crime), their families, the victims families, and the man who used to be in charge of the death house (where they do the execusions). it's a werner herzog doc, so if you know him you know he gets a bit preachy at times and likes to be as much apart of the doc as the actual interviewees, and it gets a little annoying in this but overall there are some interviews that are amazing and brutal. definitely recommend if you're up for it - 4/5

Blackfish was pretty boring. Should be common sense that anytime animals are being used to earn money for humans there's gonna be shady stuff going on. It was, well, an amusement park compared to what goes on in the meat and dairy industries

Keeping animals that have killed, or tried to kill humans, then continuing to put humans in a fishbowl with them to turn a profit is a little more than shady.

Finally watched Reacher tonight. It wasn't bad. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I didn't really think of Cruise as Reacher though, more just another random badass. The movie didn't really leave room for any of the quirks and wit that is characteristic of Reacher.

Anyone on the fence for whatever reason, give it shot. Decent movie.

talhotblonde: rather predictable but still somehow shocking. the behavior some human beings are capable of is absolutely reprehensible and subhuman

a little outside this audience's wheelhouse but i threw on akeelah and the bee in the background while i was working yesterday. it's aimed at kids/young adults/families so it can be a little corny but overall it was a cute little feel-good story about spelling bees, families, and believing in yourself.

This was really twisted. And the mom wants to write a book about the dangers of the internet? Wow.

Watched Special with Michael Rapaport. Solid indie comedy/scifi. Guy signs up for a drug study and one of the side effects happen to be thinking you're a superhero.
