Really glad I found this thread as it usually takes me forever to find something good on Netflix.
Someone earlier mentioned Word Wars and i agree its a surprisingly good documentary. 5/5 for me. Very interesting look at the hardcore scrabble sub-culture
Finished watching seasons 1-2 of The Killing, I really enjoyed it quite a lot. Solid mystery/gritty crime drama that I think went under most people's radar.
This, I started watching last week and before I knew it I was done with the first season.
The show is much more watchable now that you can grind both seasons out without any hiatus. Watching as it aired week-to-week was painful. And then the
Spoiler:
fact that the case is not solved at the end of season 1 was just terribad. Especially considering there were multiple interviews with the creators promising a payoff. I guess they won, since they did succeed in forcing people to watch the second season.
I think Netflix should make a little square in the corner for advertising or a ticker at the bottom for advertising. Of course only while browsing not during the streaming of any video. I think with this added revenue we won't see a dramatically increase price hike in the next few years and this new revenue will allow for them to get more and better content.
Just watched Cabin in the Woods, i really enjoyed it. Its one of those movies where you should not read anything about it prior to going into it. But dont expect a classical horror film, I would barely classify it in the horror genre. Overall i would give it an 8/10.
That said, reading reviews after it does seem to be a polarizing movie. iF you pay attention closely in the beginning you should be able to speculate about it and get a good predictor on if it will be interesting to you.
It's certainly worth giving a try. Not at all what I expected.
You guys having issues with Netflix playing in a very small corner of the browser and a white background? Weird. It's happened before but going back and replaying always fixed it.
Tried restarting Chrome, no joy. Happening for everything. I can zoom my browser up to 600% and it helps but still not the same. Resizing the browser doesn't help either.
^^^
Happened to me when I tried playing two movies at the same time. Went as far as rebooting my computer but the problem continued after the reboot. Maximizing Netflix worked but it kept doing what you described if it wasn't in full screen.

Glengary Glen Ross
Oldboy

Sounds about right that a list of solid netflix streaming movies consists of 75% foreign language films and one about nazi zombies in sweden.
Watched a bunch of mostly mediocre low budget indie date night movies this week, here they are, save them for time with your SO, and impress her with your netflix skillz, or make her think you have horrible taste in movies...either or. Also the brother in law from Weeds is in like 2 or 3 of these playing the exact same character.
Price Check
Parker Posey, (small roll by Amy Schumer also) is a pretty high strung crazy executive who becomes manager of a Long Island Super Market Chains marketing dept.
5/10
The Pill
NY dude with girlfriend has one night stand with hipster girl, then chases her around the city the next day to make sure she takes the morning after pill. Might actually be easier to watch than Price Check, but its not really that funny or dramatic or anything.
5/10
Nobody Walks
Jim from the Office, cute hipster girl from Bored to Death and some other people are rich self absorbed artsy folks in Silver Lake LA, Lena Dunham cowrote the screenplay. It's annoying, but I have a soft spot for these character pieces, because I like to make fun of them in real time watching.
4.5/10
30 Beats
It's a hot day in NYC, and a bunch of vaguely recognizable actors and actresses are having sex, each person is followed, they bang another person, who then bangs another person, and the movie follows each one along on their little stories. It's a pretty horrible movie. Add a few stars if you like indie character studies. This is more of an off off off broadway play though.
2.5/10
Also watched A Good Old Fashioned Orgy, 30 yr olds who party in the hamptons, and although not hilarious, its very fun, and filled with enough likable actors and raunchy humor to provide a few LOLs, definitely an underrated little film, which probably could have been made better with a few tweaks and some Apatow consulting. Jason Sudeikas, Nick Kroll, Tyler Labine (Tucker from Tucker and Dale), Lake Bell, Will Forte.
7/10.
I've probably watched 100 more of these low budget indies on netflix too, and if this helps you guys who have exhausted the instant watching out, I'll put up more reviews.
