i've recently added

jens pulver: driven- been waiting for this one for a while. he's an old school ufc/mma legend and has just been fighting passed his prime and getting devastated. it's been really hard to watch as a fan. His backstory is pretty tragic- abusive drunk of a father etc. should be fantastic if you're an mma fan, i'll report back if it's universal enough to be enjoyable.

on the shoulders of giants- should be in the running for best doc of 2011 from what i've heard. about the harlem wrens before basketball was integrated. i also suspect it should be enjoyable to people that arent even basketball fans.

i guess i'm going to try to use senna as the bar for universality in docs. Ppl that don't give a **** about f1 enjoy the hell out of senna- it's just a great story/movie.
Started to watch the Jens Pulver doc and was looking forward to it but I couldnt get into it

Another +1 to Fat, Sick and Nearly dead, very good watch. The nutrition advice is off, but makes me want to juice just as a supplement, but its probably pretty ****ing expensive

it will definitely be interesting to see if netflix can bootstrap itself into the realm of content providers and find an audience for its original programming without getting kneecapped by the existing content provider mafia.

just finished my third episode of sons of anarchy and i'm pretty firmly hooked. katey sagal is such a boss.

i've also completed three episodes of mad men. i'll give it a few more episodes but i'm not sure i have the patience. i don't think it's a good sign that what i find most interesting are the parts about advertising.

You have to watch at least episode 5 where the twist that makes it more than about an ad agency is revealed.

the first several episodes of mad men are kind of dull because they are setting up the characters and background. it gets better.

Just started my free trial of netflix. I already have lovefilm but the TV selection on netflix seems much better, though not many movies I want to watch. The streaming picture quality was much better than LF on my comp, not so much on the Wii.

Does anyone use it on xbox? Wondered if it's worth activating Xbox Live gold again. Otherwise I'll have to hook up the laptop every time I want to watch something on the TV.

Btw, King of Kong confirmed worth a watch.

I use Netflix on xbox, easy to use interface, nice to have it hooked up specifically for TV use, Ive notices laptops connected to TV's will often give you pretty crappy quality.

I agree with everything except Xbox interface sucks since they changed it.

Better than watching on laptop though so I'd still recommend it.

True, the old interface was a ton better. The main problem now is that it starts immediatley instead of taking you to the page, so in order to choose a different episode of a series, it has to first start playing a different episode, and is kind of a mess, but I still recommend it overall.

Thx, I'll get xbox gold again and try it out on there then.

Got halfway through 1st season of breaking bad tonight. They've only got seasons 1 & 2 in the UK, so I think I'm gonna have to be getting the dvds of the rest.

edit: Or not, we're only up to season 2 on dvd here. New multi region blu-ray player it is then.

Using Xbox 360, is there a way to search by actor? The search box only allows me to search by title.

The first season is very very very good. Falls off a bit towards the end of the second season, but well worth a look.

Lillyhammer is pretty good so far, Silvio is great. He's Bruce Springstein's guitarist also FYI.

The first half of Lillyhammer Ep1 is a bit cheesy. However after finishing Ep 2 I'm now a fan. For sure worth taking a look. The plot really opens up a million and one options for them to take in terms of the direction of the show. Could be interesting.
