“That show sounds gay, and I’m not gonna watch it because I’m NOT GAY.”

Dude, listen to yourself.

Dude, listen to yourself. Then watch the first season or two and listen to yourself again just in case the first time wasn't enough.

Gave Love and Death a shot. Turned it off halfway through the first episode. No personality in any of the characters, story is fall asleep worthy. Nothing happened and I don't care what happens next.

I would say just like you said the first half of the first episode is boring, but it gets better.

Is that what I said?

All I did was give two off the cuff reasons for not watching the show, one of those being very surface level and I guess a poor attempt at humor. I'm pretty sure 100% of the people on this forum know what I meant when I said "gay" but oh well. Don't wanna get cancelled or turn this into a derail about PC stuff so I'll mention that

The Good Place is pretty funny and interesting after a couple episodes.

Drops of God is decent so far but I wonder just how ridiculous the whole premise of the show is. I don't feel like researching it right now, but I find it extremely difficult to believe that anyone in the world could ever smell/taste a random wine and nail it down to an exact vintage/brand/whatever and year.

Finished The Diplomat…hugely entertaining, without getting too into the Scandal weeds, although the cliffhanger ending definitely went there.

Rufus Sewell was amazing in it, too. He always seemed pretty stiff before in other things, but man was he great in this. Also really liked the CIA lady and the British PM.

Somebody Somewhere Been on my list for a while and I’m about finished with S1. It’s fine but a little all over the place. Not as good as I was expecting but watchable. S2 has great reviews so I am hoping for improvement

From a diplomat I know...."the Diplomat is stupid but they got the government issued furniture right (in part). Anyway, I kind of like it."

So in Ted Lasso they make Nathan a total prick and then I’m supposed to care whether or not he gets a date?

I was the same with Peaky Blinders. Think I made it through Season 3, but might have stopped half way and have no inclination to continue.

QFT. I was really hoping Stranger Things would turn into an anthology show in Season 2 with a new cast and new story - I think they could have gone on a long time with that concept, rather than just rehashing the same idea ad nauseum.

I really enjoy the Netflix documentaries. Madoff was one of my favorites. Last night I watched WACO. Thought I would be bored because I knew the story, but I wasn't bored for a minute. I have too many streaming networks and I know I've missed some good documentaries. Any suggestions?

I'm looking forward to Running with the Devil, the John McAfee story. It's hard to imagine it could be bad.

Tried this because I love Kerri Russell but gave up after 2 eps. Just felt a little too campy/Shonda Rhimes-ish for me.

Watched one ep of a Netflix reality series called How to Get Rich. Found it pretty entertaining and I like the host a lot. He's sort of a combination financial advisor/therapist who goes around and tries to help people with money problems. It is interesting how much of people's relationship with money/saving/spending etc. is psychological. Some of the people on this show have no money and are in mountains of debt, but keep buying stuff on credit because "I like nice things". The show isn't judgy though, the goal is not to make us laugh at them. The host seems to really want to help. Anyway I'll keep watching as I think it's well done and the topic is interesting to me.

Ramit (the host) is a really good podcast guest. He has a few Tim Ferriss episodes that are excellent. His first one is better than the last.

Didn't know Ramit Sethi had a show. I read his book I Will Teach You To Be Rich years ago. I'd say it's required reading for anyone who sucks with money. The gist of it is how to spend less money on things you dont like so you can spend more on things you do like.

I was watching the 1st episode from the current season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I was wondering how they made the TWA terminal scenes? I assume that place does not exist in any form as depicted in that episode. It looked crazy well done.

The terminal was renovated and is open as TWA hotel. IIRC the lobby area is basically what you see in the show.

Ahh, that explains it, thanks. I was thinking there is no way they made a set that large. And looked too involved to be green screen/computer generated.
