Has anybody watched "The Responder" with Martin Freeman? Reviews look good. It's on Britbox and get a free 7 days on Amazon. I think all 6 episodes are available. I will probably check it out.

Today's episode of "The Staircase" was one of the best.

I enjoyed it, but a lot of it was filmed around where I live so I'm not sure if that's why. Martin Freeman was excellent in it, although if you're not used to hearing scouse accents you'll probably need subtitles.

Watched Hell or High Water on a whim last night, mostly because I'm a fan of Idris Elba. More accurately, though, I watched roughly an hour of it. Within a few minutes, I got Tarentino vibes and googled it to find that he was not involved. Regardless, I hate that over-produced trying hard to be cool feel of many Tarentino films, and this one had a lot of that. Too reliant on soundtrack, too much effort to make the characters look like badasses, not enough substance. I really hated it.

I don't see anyway you're talking about hell or high water with ben foster chris pine and jeff bridges so I'm really curious what movie you are talking about.

So you're saying Tarantino vibes is a bad thing?

Ah oops... I was talking about The Harder They Fall. Actually, Hell or High Water was decent but not very memorable.

For me, yeah. His style strikes me as self-indulgent. Makes me cringe and eye-roll constantly. Last time I saw one of his movies was Once Upon a Time in Hollywood; ugh. It sucked.

OMFG…has anyone else watched the Netflix doc, Our Father yet? It is absolutely bonkers. About a fertility doctor who uses his own sperm to inseminate dozens of women in his care. And then there’s some white Ryan conspiracy called Quiverfull that might be a part of it.

This is unbelievable on so many levels. Watch it immediately.

Finished We Own this City and gotta say it was a bit of a letdown. I think its similarities to The Wire combined with Bernthal's performance got me more excited than I should have been in the first couple episodes. Ultimately, the show didn't have that much to say - and what it did need to say, it pretty much spelled out in the first couple episodes and then repeated over and over.

I've seen some people say that an entire portion of the show - the parts featuring the DOJ - should have been cut; I have to agree. That entire element of the show did nothing except tell the audience what it already knew - repeatedly. Most, if not all, of the show's high points were thanks to Bernthal.

Regardless, it's a short 6 episode series that's probably worth a watch, but it ended up feeling disappointing. After the peak of the 4th episode, it just kind of coasted to its obvious and inevitable conclusion.

I assumed this was going to be about the same doctor that was in the HBO documentary Baby God, but it sounds like they are just very similar stories.

The first episode of Season 3 of "The Orville" is out on Hulu. It has been a little over 3 years since season 2 ended. It is a Star Trek type comedy. Airs 1 per week.

Watched Hold Tight (2022) Interesting that it takes place in an affluent Warsaw, Poland suburb which is a new setting to me. The mystery involves the death of a teen by overdose and then the unexplained deaths of some adults and disappearances of people and has vague subplots. Only six episodes and all English dubbed so it was easy to binge through. Last episode explains it all. It was okay. Grade B.

Man stranger things was really fun this season. I didn’t have high hopes at all due to the long layoff (and seasons 2 & 3 not being as good as the first season). Always happy to be surprised.

Didn’t think I would but I ended up watching The Offer. It’s quite enjoyable. Definitely one of those “if it was written, it wouldn’t be believed” kind of things. They’re clearly playing around with the timeline but I understand. I really like how they don’t show any of the actual scenes but fiddle with how they were able to get some of the performances they did. Really cool stuff. And Bob Evans is killing it!!!!
