Neighbor with obnoxious dog, is talking with them out of line? Neighbor with obnoxious dog, is talking with them out of line?

I have had issues with many different neighbors over their dog and don't have a lot of patience...the first had pit bulls that kept digging under our fence and attacking our dog (wife's corgi at the time). Tried talking to the kid but no avail. Finally got sheriff out to deal with it. Moved not too long after. Our current house has a dips*** family two doors down with an Akita mix that is way aggressive. Has gotten out and into our yard twice and second time almost bit my pregnant wife. Guy finally came and got the dog and just walked him back home without saying anything. Figured safer for all parties to just call animal control than to go down and have it escalate. Nothing good coming out of that. They got pissy about it and dont speak or wave to us but what can ya do. People that have dogs need to be responsible with them. I have a 228lb Mastiff and he is trained not to leave my side. Guess I expect others to keep control of their pets...just my .02

Rig up an Animal Cops jumpsuit and walk to their front door with a camera. If they ask for credentials - run.

Nobody owns a dog.

That's right, the guy that came over complaining about the barking.

Call it in on them and don't think twice. Anyone that let's their dog bark all day and all night outside is a terrible person anyway.
yeah after thinking more about it, +1 ^.

I feel like it's a 100% lock they are just completely rude. Most people act like they love their dogs more than most people love their kids.

op do they look like this?

YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T KNOW MY DOG. YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T KNOW MY DOG.

Dog owners are some of the most inconsiderate and unaware people.

I don't care if he's "friendly", I don't want to be licked, jumped on, etc. Get that thing out of my face.

Of course there are good dog owners, who train their dogs to not be a nuisance, but they are really few and far between.

This is 100% correct in my experience.

I must just not know enough ****ty dog owners. My dog just roams the neighborhood at will. No one seems to care. In fact, they tend to fatten her up with treats. Every now and again someone will say, "Yo man, your dog crapped in my yard again."

To which I go and clean up after saying, "Sorry bro. I trained her to not crap in your yard per se, just people I don't like."

Man you have no idea. 10 cups of food a day and he swears he's allergic to anything with chicken meal or corn meal. Basically any food you get in a normal pet store. So this big bastard gets holistic venison or lamb with rice or something fancy like that.

42 lbs at 6 weeks. Little monster. Poops like a hippo.

I have two almost lab sized dogs and a fenced in yard. We just open the front door and let them run around until they ask to come back in. As soon as they start barking we go out and tell them to stop - they aren't super well trained but then do respond to sit, lie down, no barking... the basics. If they continue to bark we immediately bring them in. We do this because not only do we know it must be an irritation to our neighbours, but it also eventually drives us crazy.

Your new neighbours lack this awareness and, while they may not say it to your face, they are going to think you're the one who is out of line. Or they may say it to your face...

Maybe you get lucky and they respond well and do something about it but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Just call animal control. They will get a warning and than you calla again and they start getting tickets. I am the same if my dogs bark I bring them in. If you talk to them they may finger you if they get a ticket.

Other possibility is leave a note in the mailbox saying please keep your dog from constantly barking or I will have to call animal control. Make sure they dont see you

Parents are far worse with their annoying kids.

I agree with you. A few days ago I'm walking along the beach and this dog which is soaking wet jumps up on me, and left sandy paw prints on my new jacket I got for Christmas. The owner didn't say a thing. The owner was a women who looked around 45-50 and she was there with two little kids, so I didn't bother saying anything.

Sorry, but that's probably my dog. I don't bring him in because he barks all the time and it's annoying (except at night when he sleeps on the bed between us). If you want to come over, I'll have some tea and crumpets waiting, and we can figure out a solution together.

Next time my dog gets in somebody's face I guess I'll remove her chain and throw her outside. That's probably much better for you and society.

I assume you are kidding but if not - everybody hates you. My neighbor across the street got a dog and they let it roam the neighborhood and it's a ****ing pest. I always have to worry about backing over it. Same people who backed into my parked car the 1 day in 3 years I had it in the street.

You guys thought I was kidding about the hippo sized poop. Here is my size 12 shoe next to it. And no I don't let him poop in neighbor's yard. Mainly for fear someone one might trip over it.

Wait. Is it weird for me to have a pic of my pup's poop.

People feeding your cute dog doesn't mean they are OK with you letting him roam around the neighborhood. It means they think he's cute and they know he has no control over who owns him. And it makes them feel good to give him a treat. At the same time, they wish very bad things upon you for being totally careless.
