Hero is a hot, hot track.

Also, someone help me out with this lyric from Y'all My N----z

"The problem is we started thinkin' like the colonists
'til _____________ started droppin' that consciousness"

So far just looks like another solid release. Maybe his 5th best album, I don't see it being better then Illmatic, lost tapes, it was written, or Stillmatic. In the same ballpark as God's Son and I Am.

Pretty amazing really, later this month it'll be 17 years since Live at the Barbeque and he's still dropping heat.

"The dumb are only intrigued by the drum"... NO offense, but if "hero" is your favorite track off that album, you aren’t listening deep enough; you're just hearing the beat. But every man has his own opinion.

He was the founder of the Moorish Science Temple of America, which you could consider a loose forerunner to the Nation of Islam.

Noble Drew Ali

I think this album is good compared to what else is being put out there in rap but compared to other Nas albums it's lack luster. I'm not a fan of the theme tbh.

Someone said Hero was their favorite and I agree after my first listen. It has the most mainstream appeal, this will most likely result in it going down the list later. The song is crazy good though.

I like Louis Farrakhan a lot and pretty much hate Sly Fox. The beat sounds like hip hop is dead but the lyrics are kind of awkward... rapping about Fox is to weird for me to like it.

After a few listens, I wouldn't even say its one of his top 3 albums. Not even close, imo.

1. Hip Hop is Dead
2. The Lost Tapes
3. God's Son

Hero is a phenomenal track, though. Love everything about it.

I can see how Illmatic is considered by many to be a top 3 hip hop album of all-time, but not be on your list of his own top 3. Makes complete sense to me.

In case anyone didn't notice (I didn't til I noticed the link) Nas was throwing subliminals at 50 on the intro

"*****s is still hatin' / talkin that Nas done fell off with rhyming / he'd rather floss with diamonds / they pray please god/ let him spit that oozie in the army lining/ that shorty doo-wop rolling oowops in the park reclining/ take twenty-seven mc's put em in a line and they out of alignment / my assignment said she said retirement hiding behind 8 Mile and The Chronic / get rich but dies rhyming / this is high science / now add 23 more from Queens to B'more / I'm over they heads like a bulimic on a seesaw / Now that's 50 porch monkeys ate up at the same time
Fixed it a lil to make it read better.

Seems Nas is always throwing sublims somewhere. He was throwing them at Jay way before Ether, talking **** to biggie on the Message, went at Dipset alot, he got at Jeezy good on Success (off American Gangster).

Anyways, I hope 50 cent says something back. Being that its 50, he probably will.

Dunno why Nas even bothers, "Fitty"s pretty much a joke now and a parody of his former (long ago) self.

Solid release by Nas though.

There are a handful of rappers out there that Nas would even need to break a sweat to murder, and 50 is definitely not one of them

Also, for the guy that said "untitled please", pure genius. Hope you don't care if i borrow it from time to time lol.

eh, I think it's better. He's always talking **** in interviews, it's good someone put him in his place. He shouldn't be able to get away with talking slick about someone with legend status without getting checked.

It's a good balance I think, if he would of dedicated a whole song to dissing him a la Ether then yeah thats giving him to much attention but throwing some sublims his way does the job. Well, if 50 responds back a full diss song might be in order.

my assignment said she said retirement hiding behind 8 Mile and The Chronic

Damn, that's a lot of ether in one bar.
