Why not insist on making the payments yourself instead of letting your dad do it? There isn't one extra cent coming out of his pocket, so you should be able to do that just fine.

Think of it from TDad's perspective. I bet he's actually proud of babs now. He supported babs 100% through his 20s, paying for him to go to school, gamble, and travel with short stints at low-paying jobs sprinkled in. Now, finally, in his mid-30s, babs has held this $15/hr job for over a year. This is TDad's gift to him for showing that kind of stability. Obviously babs is never going to make enough to be able to buy a home himself, but showing that he is willing to give it a shot at this job is enough for TDad to reward babs with a house. I wouldn't be surprised if this is related to why babs hasn't quit the job, even though there's no opportunity for him to ever get promoted or be given any real responsibility. TDad probably told him something like he gets the house as long as he holds on to this job.

I know I'm a few pages late on this re: spelling bees but one of my first hustles in life was when I won a spelling bee in elementary school.... I went home that afternoon and asked my parents if they would give me $100 (or something like that maybe $50) if I were to win the spelling bee (they didn't know anything about it). They shrugged and agreed and then I told them that I had won it earlier that day and told them to pay up. #gotem

2p2 and real life should very rarely ever mix (hookers in suitcases, people scamming 4+ digits and POG for example) and I've never contacted or tried to mix the two unless it was for business purposes and we're both getting enough IRL info on each other in case the other isn't the person they say they are.

Skipping past the obvious jokes of you not being able to do anything without help from daddy, I still don't really believe it. I doubt anyone knows more than your dad does that you're completely unreliable, terrible with money, and have a huge gambling problem. I don't know why he did this other than to basically buy you a house. If this actually happened it's probably because of the all the bitching you did when you found out that he helped your sister get a house. If there was a way to prove it I bet people would take odds on how long it takes before you're unable to come up with the mortgage.

not sure why people buy into his stories so easily.

at 15 bucks an hour, he is at best becoming a tenant with a roommate at a house his dad is buying. no math affords him the mortgage + pg&e bill on his own, not even in EPA.

rates are back down under 4 and daddy likely see's an opportunity for some relatively free (less the headaches) payments on a new investment property. he knows the tenants will flake eventually, so he can leave the place a dump for a bit while he sits and lets home prices in the area increase before starting his reno and flip.
