Just got back and I think....not very good. Like im not angry I went and saw it, but I probably wont watch it again. Action scenes which is something that can salvage a movie like this were average. Also, I normally dont mind Affleck and like him in some roles, he wasnt very good in this one.
Also, just because of how ridiculous it sounded I had to look it up. In the Trailor it said that "Over 300 bank robberies happen in Boston every year" ...upon looking it up.....Only 23 committed last year in the entire state of Massachusetts. Thats some exaggerated marketing there.
I liked this imo. The key was having 3 heists. Normal movie does an opening heist and then you wait forever for the final big bang. This movie would've dragged quite a bit if it went that route.
Car chase in the second one was very solid imo. Also Blake Lively gave a great performance iyam, considering my expectations. So did her breasts.

This is exactly whyt its so boring to watch Heat nowadays. Its such a great movie but when you've already seen it a bunch of times there are only a few keys parts that still have replayablilty. Love the last robbery at the end where they just tear up everything in the streets with assualt rifles.
I feel like you're supposed to feel sympathetic to Affleck's character, but ultimately want him to take the fall. That's where the movie didn't really succeed. I'm not sure I have a good ending in mind, as the book didn't have a stellar finish either.
I had a lot of trouble suspending my disbelief during this film, I felt like every ten minutes I was thinking "Yeah, riiiiigggghhhhht." A lot of cliches and predictable outcomes.
Spoiler:
Bank robber stalks potential witness, falls in love with her. This all happens in about three days.
Bank robber learns that potential witness totally has the goods (the tattoo). Despite a lifetime of criminality, his overriding love for this woman he just met keeps him from doing anything about it.
The second the bank manager finds out that Affleck was the bank robber, she would have given up every single thing she knew and they all would've been arrested immediately. But no, her love for him is too strong.
Jesus **** the "like one of my sunny days" thing straight to Hell, come the **** on.
Aaaaaand, I almost forgot, they robbed FENWAY PARK.

I was thinking the same thing while watching it. IRL, the brother would have killed the chick after he found out.
This movie really does suffer from something I hate the most about movies, a stupid timeframe.
I hate movies that jump ahead really far in time abruptly. I hate movies that seem to jam too much into a few days (this movie), too.
Spoiler:
Rob a bank. A couple days later they rob the car. Then the Fenway thing felt like it took 24 hours to set up. Even if the Florist had it all planned, it would still take some more time than that.
BTW Jon Hamm suffers from serious Gandolfini syndrome (and he's not a great actor to begin with), but I thought his role here was done reasonably well.
When they get away after robbing the armored car despite being chased by the cops. Maybe these guys were good bank robbers but the escape was beyond miraculous and not plausible. And the cop who decided to turn his head rather than get killed came totally out of left field. I understand this is a movie but I expect to have my intelligence respected.

I passed on Jon Hamm when he first moved to LA. Good-looking but nothing special and hadn't done much at that point. He's definitely talented, but so are many, many, like him.

Hamm is awesome as Don Draper. Unfortunately, that's probably his natural personality, therefore all his characters will be Draper or a slightly different version of Draper.
