Dear tuq,

I liked your Simpsons quote in ATF and was gonna reply and quote it and make the thread really long but it got locked. I figured you needed to know though.

Sincerely,

I have a feeling this guy lives within 2 miles of me, so I'll burn his house down for you if need be* (Corona represent ).

He is being a baby though. I have a bunch of friends going to school in Irvine and other spots, and although the drive sucks if you go at the wrong time, it's not too bad. Plus, it's better then staying in Corona. If he's going to take the train, make him also take a bus or something.

*No actual house burning will take place. We're peaceful here in Corona.

GuyOnTilt,

Haven't you been paying attention? Wendy's is waaaaaaaaaaaay better than fast food.

One of the secretaries at the law firm where I work just got fired because she lied about having jury duty when she was out a couple days this week. wtf, like we're not going to find out? One of the more impressive life-fails I've seen recently.

wow, this is just so stupid. like, you just look at her, and wonder, how can you be so stupid? You'd be better off just saying you were sick or your mother died or something.

ugh, I hate that.

fwiw, she actually did have jury duty monday, but lied about having it tuesday and wednesday too. So I can sort of see how she thought she might get away with it. Still an idiot though.

Quick question about faking jury duty: do they give you some sort of proof that you were there or something, or send some sort of release to your employer? I only did it once, ~15 years ago, and don't remember having to prove anything. I also specifically remember I didn't get paid for it either like I was supposed to. That $70 or whatever meant a lot to me back then.

I didn't watch the Watchmen trailer, but the concept of a movie fills me with dread. There's just no way, with all the parellel stories, that they're going to pull that off to the satisfaction of anyone who has read the books.

Looking at imdb, that guy from Grey's Anatomy is going to be The Comedian. Ugh.

offTopic,

The trailer looks cool (of course so did the one for Battlefield Earth), but I also share your sense of foreboding (I need to add this word in the words that you smart thread) regarding the quality of the finished product.

In LA you get a receipt specifically for your employer. I've had someone give me a receipt when I didn't ask for it, I know I've had people out for jury duty without asking for a receipt. To me, it's like asking for a doctor's note if they say they're sick; I either trust them or I don't, in which case they're fired anyway.

Spoiler:
The thing is, on the surface, the comic-within-the-comic would seem unnecessary to the central plot...except the artist was one of the people who "disappeared" and was involved in porting the creature into NYC, so if he's some random guy, what's the connection? I wonder if they'll combine a bunch of characters.

Imagine running the Black Ship story side-by-side with the main story and then jumping back and forth between the end of WWII, Vietnam, and the "present"...unwatchable, IMO.

The Watchmen trailer looks a hella lot better than The Spirit trailer which also came out this week and is a huge, huge disappointment even though nobody's talking about it.

offTopic,

I agree completely. At least I will have an excuse to reread and study it again

I hope that someone can make that into an emoticon.

Anyone who yells "get in the hole" at a golf tournament should be kicked in the nuts and have one of those Flintstone drivers stuck in his hole and wiggled around a bit.

And WTF with people who one use one washer/dryer combo in the ****ing laundry room? "Oh I want to let someone else do there laundry at the same time." **** you, I don't want it to take twice as ****ing long to do my laundry than it would if both ****ing washers were open. ****.

So I was playing Kongai and it is really fun but then I wonder, why shouldn't I be playing poker instead and getting money? Then I realised I mostly play it at work during downtime. I can't play poker at work. So it is not costing me that much. But maybe it takes some mental energy? Then I thought, maybe the brain is like a muscle, the more you use it the more powerful it gets! So then I am fine. But looking at a computer monitor for too long makes my eyes tired.

I am in Albany on business.

It's 1045 I've already gotten drunk in the hotel bar and sobered back up. I've jerked off twice and now I'm really, really bored.

What should I do OOT?
