I recd this leather case/whatever-it-is as a gift maybe 15yrs ago. It's held up nicely, and has been in my front right pocket, w/keys, ever since. It fits about a dozen cards, plus a small fold of bills. Back has a clip, but I never use it. For larger roll, rubber band ftw.

Wallet's in the back pocket are more prone to being pick pocketed.

Someone bumps into and says sorry, but secretly they push under your back pocket so your wallet moves up and is easy to snatch. You can feel they touched your pants, but not particularly that your wallet moved. GG wallet.

If you're anything like me, you have to be careful not to over-simplify, or you'll lose your keys frequently.

Lots of people ITT who are abnormally paranoid about having their pocket picked. These people should consider getting a chain wallet, and something to prevent identity thieves from scanning the cards in their pockets(...is that actually a big threat?). On the other hand, the decent amount of people who don't worry about it much at all has inspired me to learn how to pick people's pockets. Anyways, currently I go with:

Front Left: usually empty, sometimes sunglasses either go in them, or are hooked on the pocket(what do people usually do with these?).
Front Right: Cell phone, Keys, Lighter, & Chapstick all in my front right pocket. Possibly a pen too.
Back Left: empty
Back Right: Wallet

Clearly this isn't optimal. However, my wallet has only bothered me once on a long drive, and that once was enough to learn to take it out when in similar situations. I'm also not that worried about having my wallet stolen, but that's because I'm naturally a little paranoid and don't let people get close behind me, if I can help it, and if I can't I'm consciously aware of what they're doing and whether I can feel my wallet still or not(if I don't think of it, I don't notice it's their...unless I've forgotten it in which case I just know I'm not weighted right).

After having read this thread though, I think I'd like to explore my pocket options a bit more. I know I'll definitely move my cell phone to its own pocket when I get a new one for sure...or when I get a key fob, and system ldo, for remote ignition/car alarm etc...whichever happens first.

If you front wallet people could be so kind, link to what you're using and maybe share your thoughts on the quality?

Keys, lighters, and many other objects open bottles easily enough...there's little point in dedicating space in your pocket solely for a bottle opener...unless you're a raging alcohol...in which case carry on, sir.

Why, do you just carry a single key around with you with no chain or something?

Part of the reason I always have to have my stuff in the same pockets is I am really forgetful and will leave stuff behind unless I have a routine. I have to make sure to put my keys and wallet in the same place when I get home or I will absent-mindedly put them somewhere and have to search my entire apartment when I leave again.

BookBook looks kinda sweet, but I'll have to wait until the iPhone 5 comes out and they release the appropriate model.

But I'm really surprised to hear people put their keys in their left pocket. Keys are put in the ignition* with the right hand, so I always just carry keys in front right. That automatically means phone goes front left. Wallet could go either front, but I'd lean toward with keys.

fwiw though, I currently carry wallet back right. This thread inspired me to considerably thin my wallet. I could now get a slim moneyclip thing if I get motivated. I admit that would be best.

It still doesn't make sense to put your keys in your left pocket if you're right-handed, even if you don't have a car. You end up having to grab them with your left and transfer to your right, or pull the incredibly awkward move of pulling something out of your left pocket with your right hand.

No, I have more than that, but there was a point where I actually had to add stuff to make my keys more visible/conspicuous because I only had like two keys on a single ring and was constantly misplacing them.

I'm right-handed and tend to carry things in my right hand, so when I get to a door, if my keys are in my right pocket, I curse that I have to put the bag down to get the keys out and open the door. I'm actually able to use a key to unlock a door with either hand.

TIP: I have scanned and uploaded images of health insurance card, store cards and some random business cards to my phone.

Am I the only one who puts his wallet in jacket pocket and every 30 seconds pat my leg and worry I lost it?

Back pocket is for teenagers imo.

This pretty much, except cash in the wallet. Isn't that like half the reason of having one anyways? Unless you're talking about change, which obv goes in the left pocket along with keys to avoid scratching/sticking to iPhone.

Don't keep cash in wallet either. Neither paper nor coins. I only keep cards in my wallet.

Keys are back left, wallet back right, phone front right, cash + misc stuff front left. I doubt this is a typical configuration but it works for me.

Every day my 3 essentials:

Front right: phone
Front left: Keys and change
Back right: wallet
Back left nowt

On holiday it changes though, mainly because of the pick pocket aspect...and also with shorts makes it easier.

front right: phone,wallet
front left: keys,change

How does this work? You take your keys out every time you sit down, or you just don't mind getting your ass stabbed?

WOW... everything you mentioned is exactly how I set myself up on the daily basis.... even the holiday part ( esp in crowds like concerts and stuff like that)
