Though the mercury derail was terrible, I don't mind LoL. He may be pedantic and spectrumy at times, but at least he's not stupid, and I often find him entertaining.

I once believed as you do about LOL. But I now have come to realize I was fooled by his ability to type complete sentences with proper punctuation, capitalization, and verb tense. My best guess is that this was either drilled into him by repeated use of a wood ruler on his knuckles or that he is some kind of single talent savant.

Super low content: I was listening to a podcast this morning and heard this phrase for the first time ever: "It's a sprint, not a marathon." I've heard it a million times in the reverse, but never this way.

It was Jon Ossoff talking about running in a special election in Georgia. Seat opened up when Tom Price resigned to become HHS Secretary, so it doesn't have the usual long window leading to a normal November election. (Price stepped down on February 10, election is April 18.)
