So I don't have road rage at all, but code3 honks at everyone. Near our apartment there is an on ramp that we take often. It's were two lanes merge like a zipper onto the ramp. Well, no one knows how to do the zipper merge and code honks. Just two weeks ago someone honked at another car on this ramp and then the person in the other car shot at him. And code still freaking honks at people!

You are saying you never honk even if someone is cutting into your lane without checking their blind spot? Feel like that **** happens to me once a week.

I only use my horn when someone is doing something to put themselves in a dangerous situation. Last week, someone after an off ramp came up to the light as it turned green and looked at their phone and hit the brakes, decelerating to 0 as the lane next to them went through the light. I beeped at this person but then passed them on the left in a turning lane because I'm not sitting at a green light waiting to get hit.

Road Rage - This happened a couple of years ago. Driving home on the express lanes, Traffic was moving at about 70mph but had slowed and jammed up some because of an exit at the top of a hill. Three lanes of traffic and a light rain. Two guys come up from behind weaving in and out of lanes, cutting off people, and generally forcing their way into other lanes. One is clearly chasing the other. There is an entrance after the exit followed by another exit about 3/4 mile down the road. This adds an extra lane until the exit starts and a Jersey wall separates the exit from the main lanes. The racers were in the exit lane, one right on the bumper of the other, when the lead car swerves back into the main lanes with the chaser following. Lead car clips the Jersey wall and spins around on the shoulder. Chaser swerves further into the main lanes and spins on the wet pavement. I'm not sure how but he didn't hit anyone else and ended up in the wall in front of the other guy. I watched this from the far left lane and was about even with the lead car when he clipped the wall. I watched the spins in my mirror. Both cars were BMWs.

That's the orange crush and you know to just take sidestreets after 3 pm

it was horrific when the major artery between Irvine and Costa Mesa/Newport Beach was closed for construction, the bridge at Red Hill. I've never seen anything like that in my life when I innocently tried to take that route to get to Tustin. It took me 2 hours to go 7 miles.

LA has to be the only city on the planet where it can take 3x as long to get back to where you just came from a half hour ago

I have spent a significant portion of my adult life ensuring that I'm only driving my car for ~15 minutes on an average day.

Out of curiosity, what is everyone's top-5 list of posters' vanity search frequencies and what would you guess are those frequencies?

ETA:

That question reminded me of when I made a 1x1 pixel image with a name composed of several known vanity-searchers. I would respond to a post, bury the image in the post I was responding to, and hope for confusion. Tuq suggested I include yeti in the name, so I did...he PM'd me with words along the lines of, "I don't know what you're doing, but stop it."

peachy

I vanity search a lot. It's a more efficient way to keep up with possible convos than reading lots of threads. It's not really something to be ashamed of unless you are doing it out of paranoia that people are talking about you behind your back.

I almost never vanity-search. I monitor interesting OOT threads and occasionally jump to NVG or HSMTT, but I'm an irregular in those places.

I have never done a vanity search but then I don't really see why my name would be coming up in convos so it would seem a bit pointless really. I'd never heard the term vanity search until now and never really considered that people might search for their own name, unless they were a poker pro or something and wanted to keep up with what people were saying about them. I don't think I would vanity search even then as why would I want to hear a bunch of negative crap about myself?

If you do a vanity search you'll see if anyone quoted you replying to something you said. I do it once in a while and that's what I'm looking for and pretty much the only thing that ever comes up.

If people want to talk **** about you they'll say "lol R.e.xx" or something like that.

I always thought adding periods to a name like D.id.s was a subtle shot at suggesting someone is vain enough to search themselves.

Ah Ok that makes sense, seeing if people reply to you especially if you are a prolific poster. It does seem a bit weird to disguise a name though if you wanted to say bad stuff about them. If you don't like them and are insulting them why would you care if they see?

"Prolific poster" is especially stinging because it wasn't meant as an insult or even necessarily directed at me.

Another reason: If you are casually mentioning a bad poster in a thread or subforum they don't frequent, you generally don't want to risk them showing up to make bad posts.
