In the past Ebola has mostly turned up in bum **** areas of central Africa which have basically no connection to the outside world (ie no flights from rural congo to US/Europe/Dubai etc), so I would understand this kind of optimistic statement.
The current outbreak is in west Africa which has much stronger links to the outside world. Plenty of flights from Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria to London, New York, Dubai etc every single day so not sure why the authorities continue with such optimism.
I understand that the likelihood of Ebola spreading overseas is really low but certainly cant just declare its "NOT IN THE CARDS" when a guy just dropped dead in an international airport on his way back to Minnesota. If the guy lived for another 15 hrs Ebola in the US would have very much been in the cards!
