Even without confirmation, this significantly increases the odds of finding/recovering the black boxes.

I wish I could find something interesting about if its possible both the Australian and Chinese ships are the same signal. All I can go off of right now is what I learned from Tom Clancy's Jonesy about how there are thermal layers in the ocean that can play really weird tricks with sounds because otherwise it doesn't make sense with how the transmission range of the locator beacons has been portrayed.

I assume so, but I know that water (and especially across the depths we're talking about here) can do strange things to sounds so I was wondering if it was possible that the Chinese picked up something real.

The Australian signal seems very promising (length of contact, the equipment they're using, and the fact they heard 2 distinct signals). The Chinese one is much less promising and it seems like it could easily turn out to be something other than the black boxes.

Stuff like this was borderline funny a couple weeks ago. Now you just seem sad and not at all clever or funny.

From the news video, the Chinese are sticking a soup can attached to a pole into the water and listening with earplugs ! wtf

I actually expect to see Wolf sitting in a canoe in the middle of a pool with a tin can to his ear and a string going into the water while his assistant throws a beeper into the pool and tries to call it to set it off.

Kinda OT but I think I remember earlier in the thread W0X0F saying that no passenger should be allowed in the cockpit for any reason. This appeared on my facebook earlier:

If it was taken before/after the flight (like during boarding or deplaning) I think its fine.

You seem to be taking this very seriously. I'll leave you all to your investigation. gl

Either stop trying so hard, or try a whole lot harder.

Just to be clear, that restriction is during flight.

Just this past Saturday, I was having lunch in the Salt Lake City airport and a kid about 8 years old comes up to me and asks if I'm flying to New York. Yes, I told him, and then I invited him and his dad to visit the cockpit when they boarded.

When he showed up, I let him sit in my seat and we spent about 10 minutes answering his questions and showing him all the controls, knobs and switches.

So what you're saying is an 8 year old kid changed the MH370 flight route when he sat in the pilot's seat for 10 minutes prior to the flight taking off? I buy it.

You know how in your mind you are being really witty and stuff? In the real world you just keep making yourself look worse and worse, your best bet is to stop posting in the thread for a while. You won't do that unfortunately, but it's worth a shot.

It's really too bad they haven't found the plane yet. Not because the passengers' families are enduring prolonged suffering but rather because this thread has devolved into an amalgam of weak-minded insults, w0x0f enabling 8year old terrorists, and lame alien jokes.

Spoiler:
it was dolphins

Spoiler:
When a horse breaks a leg, it's not funny.

How do you know when a lame Alien has Pocket Rockets?

Spoiler:
He Limps, then Raises.

In regards to the signals being picked up at two locations.

Quote:
What is perplexing for many lay observers in the increasingly sonar and sound-focused search is the confusing notion that multiple pings could be detected in different locations at seemingly similar times.

Commodore Peter Levy is in charge of the military taskforce, and today he explained it this way.

"Unlike in air, where sound travels in a straight line, acoustic energy, sound, through the water is greatly affected by temperature, pressure, and salinity. That has the effect of attenuating, bending, sometimes through 90 degrees, soundwaves," he said.

"So it is quite possible, and very hard to predict, it's quite possible for sound to travel great distances laterally but be very difficult to hear near the surface of the ocean for instance.

"So it is a markedly different environment to what you see with sound travelling through air."
Also I don't think anyone's been able to detect the signals again and one possibility for that is that the BB batteries have died. I think it's around day 33-34 now.
