I've gone two months and go through bouts of agoraphobia that are linked to depression

Right now I'm going on about 3 weeks of not being outside

Wow, so that's not just staying on the property (especially if they have trails out back or something), but not leaving the house at all? Impressive!

Hard to find a doctor who makes house calls these days.

I envy you in so many ways.

Pretty sure I went five days when I had three lawskewl take home exams to do during that time and each exam was either four or eight hours long. That entire week is just a blur of caffeine and neurosis.

Well maybe I should rephrase. I go out on the balcony to sit in the sun occasionally and take a step into the backyard to let the cat outside, but yeah I haven't really left the property (and it's not some extensive several acre property or anything). I'm normally obligated to go out once or twice a week, but I've been dodging responsibility for the last couple weeks because I'm a huge degenerate.

Actually going to see a doctor (or something) is surprisingly big impediment, but I gotta fix my brain somehow (there's a point where drugs and drinking don't help).

jeez i thought it was bad when the first time i would leave the house for the day was when i was going out for the night...

how can you possibly do longer than that, especially up to a week unless you have a medical reason?

Don't. I think I'm going insane. Must break the cycle. I'll probably be some "awakened" spiritual nut or something in a month or so (again).

Edit: Either that or dead.

In lieu of drugs, how about declaring yourself Amish for a day? No internet, no TV, no video games, etc. That might get you out of the house. Except you're allowed to drive a car obviously. It's kind of hard for me to believe that more drugs are what you need, prescription or not.

I honestly wouldn't know what to do with my day, which I guess is somewhat disconcerting. I could always read, but I feel like I don't have enough interesting paper based reading material.

I'm kinda exaggerating on the drug thing, but I think I could probably benefit from some sort of anti-depressant that helps with social anxiety. Life is hard man.

I just did 5 days about 3 weeks ago during comp exams. Probably the longest I've ever gone and hated it.

Well, why don't you find out? No internet, no TV, no videogames... what would you do? Terrifying isn't it? But at the very least it might get you out of the house (even if you end up wandering out aimlessly from sheer boredom).

I will consider it. Thanks for the advice.

Glad to hear you'll consider it, I really think Amish Day is the way to go for breaking you out of your cycle. The fact that you wouldn't know what to do without all your technology centered habits confirms it for me. (Of course it doesn't address root causes as to why you're so stuck in your pattern to begin with, you might need therapy for that, but first things first.)

Probably like 3 days, though that includes the front and backyard. I was visiting a girlfriend up in Missouri in December and we got snowed in. Was depressing as ****. I was getting pissed off. Made me feel better about moving to Texas. Also felt better that I got plenty of dome.

Answer could be longer as I had mono for 3 weeks during college but I think I took rides in the car with my parents and stuff every few days. Mono drains the **** out of you though. You don't even want to leave the house since walking 20 steps burns your legs as if you just ran like 3 miles. **** mononucleosis.

In general it's pretty rare that I stay in all day. Maybe happens once every couple months. Even then I'll probably water the front yard or something.

Yeah, but how is he going to give us updates throughout the day without the internet?

10 days or so during the 2009 PStars SCOOP series. It seemed like one monster session although, I did manage a few hours sleep here and there. Good times.

I kind of went through the same thing last summer minus the drugs. Was off uni so didnt have much to do and all my friends were working during the week so most weeks I'd not leave the house till the weekend to go drinking.

Ended up with a total anxiety about leaving the house, thought it was physical at first but after getting blood tests etc done at doctors kind of realised it was anxiety/panic attacks. Beta blockers stopped it initially which was good, took them for a while but no longer need to.

Best thing you could do would be to get a routine going, going to the gym every morning would be ideal but I know its easier said than done to get the motivation at the moment. At least try going outside the house every day, to the shop or just a walk.
