So, Amazon Fresh. Grocery delivery from Amazon, many items available same-day, most by the next day. Previously only in Seattle, now being tested in LA. 90 day free trial, then $299 year. $35 minimum order. Prime members only.

$299 a year is a lot, but when I consider how often I go to the supermarket and how convenient home/office delivery is, I might continue after the trial. Today it was the greatest: put in my order while on the plane back from Boston, groceries got to my house about an hour after I did. Saved me a trip to the store on a day when it counted.

I assume every candidate I interview is looking for other jobs and on other interviews and would never expect them to bother to actually tell me that. Don't see why not sharing that up front would be a big red flag at all.

GOOD NEWS I managed to work some barre chords into real songs now (Gm and F#m)
For some reason it's much easier to get good barres when I have a capo on the 1st fret

LFS,
Amazon fresh is great.

The Seattle pricing is something like:
No Prime required
No annual fee
$75 min order w/ I think 5.99 delivery fee
$125 min order w/ no delivery fee

There is some difference for attended vs unattended delivery (they bring it in vs they leave it on the porch) that i don't remember because i always want them to leave it outside.

Overall I like the amazon fresh products and convenience but the prices aren't that great and the minimums sort of suck for me.

Saw this linked on deadspin:

We've typically had pretty good luck with seeing wildlife while on vacation, but a party on a tree? Damn.

Doesn't your **** spoil if they leave it outside?

Do you really think amazon wouldn't have considered this and planned for it?
07-30-2013 , 12:27 AM
I hear the delivery people aren't allowed to accept tips
07-30-2013 , 12:30 AM
I've never walked to one and I've used them like ten times.

It takes really horrible music to get me to turn off a beartreeorgy but that video did it.
07-30-2013 , 01:10 AM
That was perfect beartreeorgy music.

I'm on mute 90% of the time so don't notice stuff like that.
07-30-2013 , 01:24 AM
Isn't it a rule of the internet that you mute any youtube links and skip ahead to 20% in?
07-30-2013 , 01:56 AM
Something like that...upon reflection, it's more accurate to say I'm on mute by default and turn sound on if it's something I know I want to hear.

I won 300 playing poker but then i lost 200 playing let it ride. Then I had to put money into my bank account for rent. rent is super super dumb. It eated up like half my gambling roll. also i need to get health insurance what are my best options? even though i won 100 dollars i felt like a huge loser for playing let it ride.
also i need to contact evan.

While we are semi on the topic of Jobs, the one I mentioned a fews back still hasn't come through.

Now its a bank, so my question is a "month" after interview still standard for not hearing anything? I figured if it was "No" they'd say no...
07-30-2013 , 08:31 AM
best to do your bank jobs early in the morning. less witnesses and traffic.

A month is a pretty long time but not unheard of for it to take that long.

I think most places have stopped saying no these days. Especially if you are their second or third choice while they wait for answers from the first choices.

If serious:

The second time I ordered (yesterday) there was a space on the order form to enter a tip. Which I did ldo. The suggested tip on a $55 order was $3.50.

The economics of Amazon Fresh must be so different in LA than in Seattle. I'm surprised they didn't open in NYC, but I think there are already several entrenched grocery delivery outfits there.

I feel like I'm only second or third choice based on price, recruiter says they have called but they semi stone wall, and say "Still in the process" Which I obv know means "We want to see what else is out there" They did make the point to tell him the IT director was on vaca, but hes been back 2 weeks now

Can someone explain the Spaceman Bryce phenomenon to me? Before my time obv. Every time he appears it's like this weird cry for help and hurt feelings about not being responded to immediately or enough, and then some regs pat him on the head with kid gloves and he disappears again. Sorry if this isn't something we're meant to discuss, but it's an odd recurring thing.
07-30-2013 , 10:22 AM
He's an oddball, that one.
