Jeans Friday Jeans Friday

I work in a firm where the dress code is business casual except Fridays, on which days jeans are acceptabe. To further define business casual, for dudes, it works out to slacks and a long sleeve button up dress shirt with no tie, and black/brown leather shoes or loafers. Few might wear polo's which are also acceptable - pretty standard office attire.

It's a little more ambiguous what exactly would be acceptable for Fridays - many rock a polo shirt tucked in with jeans and tennis shoes that are in good shape. Personally I find the tennis shoes to be a bit too casual for my taste in an office environment so I'll rock a more stylish long sleeve button up than usual (might have multi-colored stripes and be fitted more - basically your standard clubbin type shirt), jeans, and my usual black leather shoes. However, I can't justify tucking the shirt in. I'll admit tucking in as a rule is more standard/appropriate but in this case, I believe you end up looking like a doosh/clown/nerd. I think I break the letter of that specific unspoken rule by further embracing the spirit of classing it up a bit compared to the sneakers/polo crowd. I say, taken as a whole, I'm looking more professional than those cats. Many others rock this type of style with the shirt untucked. I don't think anyone tucks it in when rocking that style.

However, it's recently being noted by some of the few older personnel, the bosses (partners), that these damn kids are being unprofessional with their untucked shirts. I say this is crazy for aforementioned reasons. Who's right? What should be the best policy? Am I just rocking a social faux-paus or am I thinking on a deeper, more relevant level?

Why did you think OOT would give a **** about this?

Um, I'm probably closer to the older people in your scenario and I'd just like to say - I don't care how you dress at work, but please stop using the word 'rock' in this context over and over again.

You're sure rocking quite a lot there, son

This thread is rocking.

this is to partially settle a bet that I'm currently rocking with a co-worker so suck it up. After the influx of opinions on black suits in the office how is this so irreverent? I'd hate for OOT to rock a no decision on this hard hitting matter.

Who gives a **** what you wear to work? Dress codes are ridiculously antiquated. Find a different job imo

Tucking in shirts with jeans is absurd. If you're going to have a jeans friday then I think all bets should be off.

How is this not the guys who write the checks opinion? Who gives a **** what some tards think about their embroidered clubbing shirts and acid washed jeans? If you were smart, and lets face it, that's a toss up from the evidence presented here, you wouldn't wait for the partners to stop giving hints and start dinging people for the stupidest thing you can get dinged for at work. If you want to class the place up wear slacks and a tie on Fridays. Make all the other scrubs look like high school jerk offs and break the curve. ****ing sheep.
