there is a difference between loving your child and letting them do whatever they want.

What would you do if your child was gay?

oooh, I thought of another one....in court it is documented about what a horrible person she is, so the children abandon her (metaphorically)

Would you also teach your son/daughter how to love the opposite sex if they had gay feelings ?

It's not doing, it's being. Trust me, I've never met a twelve and thirteen year old who would choose to deal with these issues if they didn't have to.

here is another one for you to ponder.

one parent is moving 2000 miles from an affluent area...to a suburbs of a ghetto.

now, in order to exercise ones "rights", monetary sacrifices must be made by both parties.

Any idea who suffers when things like "saving for college" or similar activities are sacrificed in the name of somebody's "rights"?

give it a long thought.

It's crazy to me that religious nuttery or sexual ickiness or whatever could (does in many cases) overwhelm the feeling of love one has for ones kids.

again, I doubt that going to college is better for a child than growing up with out a parent. How much ended up going that college fund?

Sounds kinda like a friend I have on facebook, who constantly moans and complains about how much he misses his daughter (she lives in Virginia with her mother) and shes the love of his life and the sole reason for his existence. Yet he doesn't move somewhere closer where he can spend more time with her, because, well he doesn't really have any good reason. Whenever I call him out on it, its something, something, jobs, something, something. People rationalize all kinds of decisions and like to think they are doing the right thing, but often they are just being a pussy and wont just admit "that's too hard" because of the effect it would have on they view themselves.

Some people just want an excuse to not have to raise their kids, look at the other stuff going on ITT

i don't recall complaining. because of the decisions I made, my children are well educated productive members of society.

Damn, I was really hoping Thinman was implying that a court battle would have enraged him so much he would have killed her.

I actually feel bad that this thread is turning into a referendum on #thinman's parenting choices. He likely made a bad decision, missed out on a ton of great experiences, and probably feels pretty regretful even though I doubt he'd admit it. No need really for anyone to pile on.

goofball, yeah, but he got the ball rolling when he went after someone else's parenting.

Should explain to your kids you abandoned them out of love and try to get back in their lives.

what are the major responsibilities of being a parent?

clue me in.

hit the most important ones first.

don't forget to include your experience level, this isn't an open-book test.

making sure they have a college fund, making sure they dont have to be teased for not having everything but the best....those are really the only two that matter

****! Im bad at these

uhm.....to make sure they grow up with a mom?

My experience is that I have no experience raising a child....maybe you can help me figure out the answer since we seem to be at the same experience level

Acceptance, love, safety, food, clothing. College is great, sure, but what if they choose not to go?

ok sounds good....ill be pretty old by then too, so it will probably be a relief to abandon them in their most formative years when they need my love and parenting the most, can take up golfing or something
