Just wondering -- how old are you cleary? This may just be a huge generational gap. His phone may be just a flip, where it would have little use anyways, except of course the fore-mentioned emergency.

^ I'll chime in and agree as well.

Taking constant pics and uploading to FB is certainly annoying. It is up for debate as to if it is narcissistic, and at least in my opinion it is idiotic. If I was sitting at the table with someone who did that I would make fun of them.

I'll also defend Cleary on the not having a phone thing. I prefer to do things the old fashioned/analog way all the time...there is a charm to it.

daily and every 32 minutes with inane "brags" are two different things though right?

If my friend is on vacation and posts "beautiful sunset here in x" and stuff like that every couple days it's not all that douchey but if a user posts "omg best bagels in the world in NYC" and then a picture of a piece of pizza 30 minutes later with the caption "you've never had a real slice til you've visited the big apple" and then a picture of some random steak for dinner then it's getting a big narcissistic impo

The only time vacation pics bother me is if the person is a total douchebag about it. Some guy is staying on a beach in Mexico and every morning he posts a picture of the beach along with "This is my backyard, let's see yours." WTF is that?

A separate example, girl posts a photo of her in a helicopter with "I hired some guy to fly me to The Grand Canyon. I went rafting and also took a hike through the most beautiful path today. What did you do today?" The first stuff is ok, but the "What did you do today?" Come on now!

If that vacation is to like a 1st world country, why wouldn't you bring your phone? Forget using it to call people or take pictures, just little **** like finding out if there's a good restaurant near Disneyworld or whatever.
