The two best jobs I had in college were delivering pizzas, and bartending.

If possible, get a job working for a non-chain place so you don't have to deal with a uniform or corporate crap. Delivering to college kids gets you crappy tips, but occasionally you will deliver to a hot, half-dressed coed in the dorms or sorority.

I've worked for Dominos for almost a year now delivering in Minneapolis. It's good money and can be fun at times, my only real grief is that you have to work nights to make decent money, usually fri, sat, sun.

One concern is getting robbed depending on what kind of area you're in. We had a driver get robbed at the downtown store, but we do deliver to a kind of bad neighborhood.

Only think that sucks about this job is bitchy GMs on power trips. We went through 4 GMs in about 6 months and the last one cut my hours to practically nothing b/c my delivery time was a bit slower than some of the other drivers (I like to cruise around and blaze).

All in all it's a pretty sweet job if there are some cool people at the store to smoke w/ and ****. But yeah, most drivers are pretty weird, lol. Also, go for Papa Johns over JJs, JJs will only give you 4 hour shifts during the lunch rush, pretty impossible to make a living if that's your only job.

It's really funny looking at the delivery areas for pizza places down here. They gerrymander like crazy to keep their 17 year old white high school drivers out of the ghettos.

If i make around 15000-20000$ a year working parttime its not nearly as much as that. There's brackets just havent bothered to look into that yet. I think I paid around 15-20% last year. But yeah cost of living here is pretty sick.

A lot of the pizza places around where I live won't even deliver to the majority of the surrounding area, too much **** has happened to the drivers. I'm surprised it's not similar in New Orleans.

+1 on finding out the delivery area before you take the job. I delivered to some very dodgy areas in college, and I got stuck with a disproportionate number of the bad delivery orders because the bossman wouldn't let the female drivers go into certain neighborhoods.

**** that. If I was a driver I would say well if she doesn't have to go in there, why do I have deliver there? Either everyone delivers to a zone or nobody goes there, none of this well she has a vajayjay bull ****.

Kid I went to middle school with plotted this exact scheme, except they killed the pizza guy. Something on the order of "hey, let's order Dominos and then when the guy gets here we'll kill him, take the pizza and the cash!"

Hypothetically speaking I wouldn't try to open a case against them (and never mentioned it) because it would be a frivolous suit and a waste of my time. I would simply put my foot down and make sure that I get equal and fair treatment. If other drivers want to take the risk of delivering to those neighborhoods, they are more than welcome. This is a pizza place we are talking about, I'm sure the manager can be a little bit flexible if they are already willing to bend the standards for one group of employees.
